Being able to hear and identify a letter's sound is the key to being able to read. I specifically chose to focus on resources for phonemic awareness because this is where students begin to  blend individual sounds into a word. If the students don't catch onto this method during first grade it will be difficult to process their readings during the third grade.

This activity will allow the students to think it a game while it's purpose to to focus on the sound. Each time their is a new student you can change the word. The student in the middle has to listen very closly for where the sound is coming from and their brain will be processing the sound at the same time.
