The first quotation that I find very memorable was when Simon states the truth of what the beast actually was, as said in Chapter Five, "What I mean is... maybe it's only us.". This quotation was one that really struck me which eventually makes it a memorable one because of how firstly, Piggy, the symbol of maturity and wit, rejected such a conclusion made by Simon, the one who has observed of most part the changes in the boys when they first reached the island and how they were in that situation of dispute between one another. Simon's quote made me realize that fear has struck into the boys so much thinking that the beast is out there preying after them, when in reality the true beast out there to get the boys were their own destructive nature. Secondly, this quote made me think of who I really am and what I can be when push comes to shove, having to do things out of deliberation and desperation. This quote emphasizes that the real "beast" that breaks the boys apart and kill each other were themselves.

The second quote that was memorable to me is in the final chapter of the novel, Cry of The Hunters, "The officer, surrounded by these noises, was moved and a little embarrassed.". This quote shows me that the naval officer did not understand the seriousness of what the boys had gone through in the island which was practically chaos and war between symbols of civilization (Ralph) and savagery (Jack). These boys had 3 casualties on the island (littlun included), however the naval officer asked the boys jokingly whether they were "having a war or something" of which they did. He only realised the lack of humour when Ralph answered "Only two. And they've gone" and when the boys started to sob over the things they've done on the island. I think the officer was embarrassed because of the fact that he had said the inappropriate thing towards children who had faced hell on the island, killing each other, making them remorse over their actions done.

one memorable quotation from LOTF would be, "fiercely he hit out at the filthy thing in front of him that bobbed like a toy and come back, still grinning into his face". this is so as it shows chances upon "LOTF", the "being" responsible for the deaths and his upcoming death. the truth was too overwhelming and dark that a sick fear and rage swept him, no matter how much he tried convincing himself that both deaths were accidents though deep himself, he is aware that they had been deliberate. this which caused a sick fear and rage that swept him and lashed and cried out in loathing. ralph even showed signs of savagery while he was hiding. he also seemed to lose his rational thoughts act instead on his instinct to escape and defend himself which is a sure sign that civilization is disappearing.

another memorable quotation would be when simon confronted the boys about their fear of the beast by saying, "maybe its only us". as simon is the voice of truth, he was trying to show that the beast is not a whole entity, the beast lies a part of the boys as well and its sad how none of them really realized. in addition to this, simon also said "you'all will make it back. you all will be alright". the use of "you" instead of "we" have suggested that simon, himself would not be able to survive and thus shows that he foreshadows. thus, this quotation shows that not only simon's death but piggy's as well has opened a door to violence that was never opened before which is civilisation vs savagery in the end.

the first memorable quote from LOTF would be, "Ralph launched himself like a cat; stabbed, snarling, with the spear." this shows that although Ralph was the most civilised out of all the boys, he acted in an animalistic and primitive way when in danger. he is seen acting as a savage here when hunted by Jack and his tribe. this hows that no matter how civilised a person is, savagery is a natural instinct that lies beneath every person and will show when the situation is a matter of life and death.

the second memorable quote is, "Piggy still holding out the talisman, the fragile, shining beauty of the shell. The storm of sound beat at them, an incantation of hate." it shows Piggy's blind and absolute faith in the conch. he believes that civilisation will stop the chaos on the island. in reality, the boys have completely lost grip of civilisation and has turned into savages. his blind faith in the conch led him to his death, as well as the conch exploding into pieces, symbolises the death of civilisation and complete take over of savagery.

The first memorable quote would be "He says he saw the beastie, the snake thing, and will it come back tonight...he says in the morning it turned them into things like ropes in the trees and hung in the branches." There are many references to beasts in the novel. The concept is introduced in chapter 2 by a littlun. No matter how much Ralph attempts to assuage their fears about the Beastie, the group of boys still fear it. Simon discovers later that they are the Beastie. This quote also shows how the 'beastie' is feared as the devil as in the garden if eden the devil disguises himself as a snake and tempts Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. During the day disguises itself as vine but during the night is the dark side of nature.

The second quote would be '“I gave you food," said Jack, “and my hunters will protect you from the beast. Who will join my tribe?" ' After a successful hunt Jack finally makes his move to usurp Ralph's leadership. Jack uses the threat of the beast as a means to manipulate others into giving him power. Minutes later a storm comes upon them. Ralph thinks he can wrestle power back from Jack by reminding the hunters that they have no shelter. Jack sways the crowd by having them engage in a tribal dance. Even Ralph and Piggy join in.

The first memorable quote from lord of the flies is " maybe there is a beast...maybe its only us " this is memorable quote because it shows that maybe there was no beast to begin with. that the beast is just the boys themselves. the monster, the beast is within themselves and not an actual thing. the more they loose their " humanity ", the more the inner beast comes out.

The second most memorable quote from the lord of the flies is " what are we? humans? or animals ? or savages? " the boys have come to a realization that they themselves dont even know who they are anymore. they have acted so non-human that they have to question if they still are humans or animals. they have realized that they could not tell if they were humans or animals.

One memorable quote from chapter 11 is "The conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist." The conch that was once instilled with power and authority has now lost all it's power in holding civilization in place. This signifies the demise of the civilized instinct among almost all the boys on the island.

Another memorable quote from chapter 12 is "Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man's heart, and the fall through the air of the true, wise friend called Piggy." Ralph recognizes how cruel a men could become and how evil is released when the restraints of civilization loosened. He finally understands what Simon has been trying to say back in chapter 5 about "mankind's essential illness". Ralph also remembered Piggy's death which was extremely brutal.

one memorable quote from the text would be the chant which went like "kill the the pig. cut her throat. bash her in." and the other chant, "kill the beast! cut his throat! spill the blood! do him in!". both chants were almost similar to each other, however, both chants were referring to different subjects. one of which was chanted when the boys pretended to beat maurice as they circled around him, who pretended to be a pig. this was mentioned in the earlier part of the book before the boys got too blinded by savagery and the pleasure of hunting. while the other, was chanted when they were killing the 'beast', who was actually simon. after thinking that simon was the 'beast', the boys, including ralph and piggy, circled around simon and started jabbing sticks at him, 'till he died. all whilst chanting the ululation. this happened a little after simon's enlightening moment. i think this shows the change in the boys' after a period of time being on the island with nothing to do and no one to tell them what's wrong or right.

another memorable quote is "the tears began to flow and sobs shook him ..... ralph wept for the end of innocence" it made me realize that ralph had shed a few tears only because he finally understood the situation. he didn't exactly lose his innocence but he now believes that the innocence of the boys', had completely vanished and that not everyone is innocent to begin with.

The first memorable quote from LOFT for me would be in Chapter 8 ;'Quiet!' shouted Jack. 'You, listen. The beast is sitting up there, whatever it is--' [...] 'Hunting,' said Jack. He remembered his age-old tremors in the forest. 'Yes, the beast is a hunter'". Why this quote is memorable to me is because this is where I realised how man's greed for power can control a man to do whatever it takes feed their desires. Jack uses the moment to play on the boy's fears, pointing out Ralph's cowardice and lack of hunting ability as reasons why the other boys should choose him as chief over Ralph. For Jack, the beast is an opportunity to make himself appear stronger and braver than Ralph; he uses the polarizing topic of the beast to draw attention to himself, capitalizing on the boys' fear of the unknown and dark jungle paths. By constantly alluding to the beast and reminding the boys of the existence of a beast, Jack can control them in two ways. One, he can control where they go (and don't go) and he can make sure that they stay true to him for protection instead of defecting to Ralph's team. What's worse is that Jack is just a young boy and if Jack is capable to be this cunning at this young age , just imagine all the wicked things he is able to do when he is an adult.

The second memorable quote would be in Chapter 11; "Piggy's arms and legs twitched a bit, like a pig's after it has been killed." Why this quote is memorable to me is because this confirms the fact that the Sow being killed is indeed Piggy's foreshadowing of his death. At first, I dismissed the idea but then I found that it was true. Besides that I taught since the deaths were related, could it be that the Sow dying (in chap 4)would then be the beginning and Piggy's death would be the last death on the island ? Or was this just another coincidence?

One memorable quote from Lord Of The Flies is from Chapter 2, ''We've got to have rules and obey them. After all, we're not savages. We're English, and the English are best at everything.' I find this quotation unforgettable because firstly, these boys turn out, most of them, to be savages. Their inner savagery were provoked later on in the novel. This quotation also shows how they stereotype that English people are always civilized. All in all, isn't it suspicious and ironic that Jack had said this?

Another quote that is truly memorable is

“We did everything adults would do. What went wrong?” I feel like this quote indicates that even though the boys acted like an adult, used the conch for calling the others, had laws and rules (that were later on ignored) their inner savagery had still been provoked. Maybe it is because it has been inside all of the boys all along? I feel like this quote also denotes that even adults can do something unacceptable, something sinister any time, once they refuse to obey the law.

The first memorable quote from Lord of the Flies would be when Jack jokingly said "Use a littleun instead". The boys were reenact the chase among themselves with a boy named Robert playing the boar, as the boar escapes from the boy's hunt. They sang rituals and poked Robert with their sticks. Injured, Robert attempts to escape the boys, suggesting to them to use a real boar instead. However, Jack replied, saying that the boys should "Use a littleun" instead. While the boys were laughing over Jack's "joke" it is a sign of the savagery Jack is becoming.

The second memorable quote is when the Naval Officer commented on the result of the boys: "I should have thought that a pack of British boys...would have been able to put up a better show than that." This quote represents the Officer's shock of the death of Piggy, Simon - by the boys themselves.

Then when anyone breaks 'em---" i find this memorable because despite that Jack is merely excited to have rules, so that whoever that breaks the rules, he would punish them, bringing out the savage side of him, he is actually the first one suggesting to have rules. this is an act of civilisation, showing that initially, Jack is a civilised person.

another memorable quote from LOTF is "so don't try it on, my poor misguided boy, or else---" this shows a foreshadowing of Simon's death. the LOTF warns Simon not to stop Jack's new regime but to accept the savagery that will take over the island for his life would be in danger and yet after being warned, Simon still went to tell the boys, thus being killed by the boys. i feel that this just shows how selfless Simon is. despite that he would be in danger, he still chose to tell the other boys what the truth was, even though eventually he did not manage to, which was such a pity.

The first memorable quote from lord of the flies is "Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man's heart and the fall through the air of a true, wise friend called Piggy." I find this really memorable because this was when the boys saw the naval officer. Shouldn't Ralph be happy? Or maybe cry out of joy instead since he would soon return to civilisation? That was not what happened, as he instead started crying because he will never be the same after being on the island. He lost his innocence, the island practically ruined him after he witnessed his closest friend on the island being killed, and even being involved in Simon's murder just made him realise all the evil that lurks behind every human being.
The second memorable quote is "you knew didn't you? I'm a part of you? Close, close, close! I'm the reason why it's no go? Why things are the way they are?" The lord of the flies tells this to Simon to confirm his initial speculations of the beast being a part of all human beings when Simon said "maybe it's only us" in a chapter before this. The Lord of the flies also referred himself as the beast and acknowledges the fact that he is within the boys. He also talks and teases Simon the same way the other boys on the island would, "it's a no go", the way they talk seemed the same. Unfortunately after This startling discovery Simon tries to tell the boys about this, but they instead thought of him as the beast and killed him in a really brutal and savage way

The first memorable quote from Lord Of The Flies would be "His mind was crowded with memories;memories of the knowledge that had come to them when they closed in on the struggling pig, knowledge that they had outwitted a living thing, imposed their will upon it, taken away its life like a long satisfying drink." Jack exults in the kill and cant think of anything else as his mind is "crowded with memories" of the hunt. Golding explicitly links Jack's elation with the feelings of power and superiority he experienced in killing the pig.

Another memorable quote would be "Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man's heart, and the fall through the air of a true, wise friend called Piggy." When Ralph sees the officer, his sudden realization that he is safe and will be returned to civilization pushes him into a despair. The rescue is not a moment of unequivocal joy, for Ralph realizes that, although he is saved from death on the island, he will never be the same. He has lost his innocence and learned about the evil that lurks within all human beings.

One memorable quote from Chapter 11 is"The conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist." The conch represented civilisation, having rule and order. It twas once instilled with power to have control over the boys behaviour and has now lost all it's power in holding civilization in place. This signifies the end of being civilized among almost all the boys on the island.

Another memorable quote from Lord Of The Flies is from Chapter 2, ''We've got to have rules and obey them. After all, we're not savages. We're English, and the English are best at everything.' I find this quotation unforgettable because, most of these boys turned out to be savages as their time went by. Their inner savagery were provoked later on in the novel which further shows the savage side of them. The quote also shows that people are being stereotyped by who they are being their skin colour or race and have the mentality that English people are always civilized.

My Two memorable quotation in the book is Firstly from Chapter 9 (A view to a death). "the sun and moon were pulling; and the film of water on the earth." I found this quotation memorable because this quotation feel really dramatic. Simon death was one of my favourite scene in the book and the way they showed how when he died and the sun and moon were pulling felt that he was a very important person. Probably god or king like figure. As the sun and moon usually was used to say as the king in the past. However only the immortal will get the privilege to be able to get attention from the moon and the sun. The second quotation is "Like a pig after it has been killed" This was after piggy was killed. I felt this was memorable as it shows me a symbolism between piggy and the "pig" since piggy was called "piggy" which was like a pig. So when he died, he died as a pig also. Which piggy name wasn't shown in the book, so finally I get a clue of why he didn't have a name. Maybe because he was symbolic to a pig, so pig is an animal and it doesn't deserve a name. Thus it is memorable as it gave me a clue why Piggy wasn't given a name.

The first memorable quote from the book is "Nobody knows where we are, " this show that only piggy can see the big picture of the type of situation they are in wherelse the rest of the boys are only focusing on the short term fun the are having without seeing the big image of the type of situation they are actually in.
The second memorable quote is ""Conch! Conch!" shouted Jack ,"we don't need the conch any more. we know who ought to say things. " this shows how jack unleash his inner dictatorship by using the method of fear. He attempts to take control of the group and abandons the littluns ,only taking those of high value of usefulness to his tribe showing his dictatorship ways of how he create his so called "perfect" tribe for himself.

We're English, and the English are best at everything."
it was memorable for me because in the end, the boys were divided and some of which became savages. To add on, they were not civil or as proper as they claimed to be because they were English. It shows that they were not innocent children throughout the story.

A quote from the book that i find memorable is "'Maybe there is a beast . . . .maybe it's only us.'" I find it memorable because it was when simon realised that the beast is within them or inside them . But actually there isnt a beast itself . The beast was actually them .

Another memorable quote is "'I should have thought that a pack of British boys . . you are all British aren't you ? would have been able to put up a better show than that ." This quote is telling us that British are civilized people and all but in the end the end up as savages .

The first quote that i thought is memorable is " Maybe there is a beast... maybe it's only us." I find this memorable as it made me think that maybe instead of the beast being on the island, the real beast actually lives within the boys as they started to act in all sorts of non-civilised manner. The fact that no one noticed the beast was in them surprised me as the boys have done things that aren't usual actions that they would've even thought of doing and the chapter goes on and on, their actions became more savage, animal-like. The boys don't see the wrong-doings that they have committed since they landed on the island as they are blinded by everything new that surrounds them, including the savage side in them.
The second quote that I find really memorable is "the conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist." I find this quote memorable as the conch symbolises cilvilization throughout the whole novel. When the conch explodes into thousands of fragments, the way Golding described the broken conch made it seem like any small but of chance for civilisation was gone. The emphasis of the conch made it sure that it was one of the most important symbols as it has deep meanings to it and cilvilization plays a big role in this novel. So when it shatters to thousands of fragments, it killed civilization and the following had great impact to it.

A quote that I found memorable from the book would be, "Piggy still holding out the talisman, the fragile, shining beauty of the shell". I found this memorable as it showed how much the conch still meant to Piggy after all that's happened to the boys and how much they have changed. The conch was practically the most insignificant object to the other boys but to Piggy, he still looked at it as a "shining beauty" and a "talisman". I just found it amazing that Piggy still somehow managed to stay civilised.

Another memorable quote from the novel would be "to be a pack of painted niggers". This was a very memorable quote as I was very surprised when Golfing decided to use such a term as "nigger" to describe how Jack's pack was as I found it to be quite racist especially when he wrote the book at wyd a time where the two ethnicities were not on the best terms.
