What is White Privilege, Really?

This article really explained "white privilege" in detail. It went back in history to when the term was first conceived after the Civil War. The article then uncovers the subconscious prejudice of grocery stores and how they exclude almost every other ethnic group. The article is mainly America based, but includes cases from Australia. Racism is what fuels White Privilege, and in turn, White Privilege is what allows Racism to continue.

The Danger of The Single Story

When things are seen from a single point of view, you are only seeing one side of the story. If the only thing you hear about Africa is how there are children starving there, then you could assume that Africa is poverty stricken. However if you look deeper into it, you will find that Africa is thriving. Nothing is ever single sided, like a cut diamond there are multiple sides and views on everything. You can't be satisfied by looking at one cut face of the diamond, so why be content with just the one point of view?

Caged Bird

In the poem, the free bird represents Whites, free to do what they wish to their hearts' content without fear of discrimination. The caged bird represents Blacks and other ethnical minorities, living in fear of what will happen to them. Would they be arrested for their skin color? Would they be evicted for their race? This poem described racism in America simply and beautifully. The emotions are felt even in an example as simple as this.

Too Many Americans Think Patriotism Means Racism and Xenophobia

Just because one person from an ethnic group of people did something horrible doesn't mean that every other person in that ethnic group is responsible for that person, or exactly like that person. Every person ever put on this Earth is made different. Different in their interests, different in their set of skills, and -- most important of all -- different in their way of thinking. It is unfair to judge a group by the actions of a single individual. Keep an open mind and believe in the good in people.

Why I, as a black man, attend KKK rallies

This man is an absolute legend. He made an incredibly brave decision in order to learn more about racism. He risked his life just to learn why racism exists and what do people who follow it think of it. He came out of this experience with not just his answer, but with respect. The fact that a Klan leader respected him enough to leave the Klan after being in that position for years is quite a feat. 1 like = 1 respect

It tells the emotions that the reader felt when reading a work by George Yancy; the passion, the insightful comments, the complete and utter lack of context. Its a perfect review of the paper that was written. I cannot explain further details without getting points taken off for summarizing.

Racism in America: One Professor's Experience

This paper is somewhat ironic because just about a week after visiting South Carolina to witness a confederate flag being lowered, a symbolic event representing a coming of a brighter age, Professor Johnson is arrested at his home under the same discriminatory factors that he had previously thought were fading away. It is a very sad irony, one that describes the feeling when you are wandering around in the dark and you see a light flickering in the distance, and just when you think you're almost at the light, it is snuffed out and you're left with nothing again. The flag lowering was so wonderful to Johnson and it was held on such a beautiful day. Just a week after the event, he was accused of theft because of the same beliefs he thought he witnessed get taken down in South Carolina.

This article is about the story of Arthur Mitchell, an African-American ballet dancer who stirred controversy in the New York ballet community.
