"Our life is frittered away by detail. An honest man has hardly need to count more than his ten fingers, or in extreme cases he may add his ten toes, and lump the rest. Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb-nail." - Henry David Thoreau

This quote stood out to me because Thoreau encourages the transcendental tenet of simplicity as he explains how there is no purpose in living a busy life that is complicated and chaotic.

(1) My verse will be smiling and being kind to everyone I see or meet in hopes of encouraging the expression of goodness in humanity. (2) I will contribute to our world by smiling at anyone I pass on the street with the desire that they do the same to others until kindness is spread around the world. You never know what someone has been going through lately so by smiling at them I will hopefully remind them of the goodness of humanity and encourage the spread of genuine human connection to unite the world. (3) I declare that I will revive human goodness in the world. I will start small by smiling at people and hopefully encourage people all around the world to be kind to each other.
