         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>WW1: Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand</strong></div><ul><li>- A Serbian killer assassinated the Archduke.</li><li>-Austria demanded for Serbia to sign their list of demands.</li><li>- Serbia agreed , but also wanted to negotiate. </li><li>-Austria declined and declared war on July 28, 1914.</li><li> <strong>WW2: German invasion on Poland.</strong></li><li>-Hitler stated it was a defensive attack.</li><li>- Great Britain and France didn't believe the German leader and declared war on Germany on, September 3, 1939.</li><li><strong>WW2: Japanese attack on Pear Harbor</strong></li><li>America feared that Japan might colonize some of their colonies (Guam/Philippines).</li><li>Japan's sneak attack on the Pearl Harbor made the U.S lose a lot of people and resources. U.S declared war on 1941.</li></ul>]]></description>

Nations glorified military power. </li><li><strong>Alliances</strong>:Military alliances lead to rivalries between nations. </li></ul><div>- Guaranteed support from other nations. This lead to Nations supporting each other and making it a real world war. </div><ul><li><strong>Imperialism</strong>: The amount of land Britain and France owned lead to a rivalry with Germany.</li></ul><div>-Germany sought to acquire colonies</div><ul><li><strong>Nationalism</strong> : pan-Slavic nationalism that inspired the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This sparked World War 1</li></ul><div>-European nations colonial wars lead to a delusion of invisibility<br>World War 2</div><ul><li><strong>Militarism:</strong> After World War 1, Germany had a limit to how many military personal it had. However once Hitler took office, he ordered the building of ships, tanks, planes,etc.</li></ul><div>- Europe didn't grow it's military, underestimating Germany<br>-Japan's government was being ruled by military leaders</div><ul><li><strong>Alliances</strong>: Germany and Italy made alliances. Later Japan joined the Axis powers</li></ul><div>-Fascist nations of Germany and Italy supported fascist in Spanish civil war<br><br>-<em>Allied powers</em>: U.S., Britain, France, USSR, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa, Yugoslavia<br><br>-<em>Axis powers</em>: Germany, Italy, Japan, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria</div><ul><li><strong>Imperialism</strong>:  Germany expands it's territory by invading former territories </li></ul><div>-Japan also starts conquering southeast Asian nation</div><div>cluding European colonies. <br>-Allied powers are forced to go to war with Germany after it conquered Poland. Japan goes to war with China, later the U.S</div><ul><li><strong>Nationalism</strong>: Germany wanted to rebuild it's economy and regain it's old territory. This lead to Nationalism because the German;s viewed Europe as there enemy's-</li></ul><div>-Japan's nationalism was a desire to survive it's European aggressors. Europe was seen as the enemy, not seeing Japan as an equal. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
