Extended Writing Samples

Short answer and multiple choice tests may be useful for assessing certain kinds of knowledge in content areas
However, they reveal little about the student writing ability
Valid rubies and benchmarks are linked to explicit standards for them, extended writing samples can give teachers a clearer picture of a student's ability with a range of tasks...

Appropriate Rubrics

Should focus on the appropriate criteria for the task assessed
Rubrics should be counting for students ability to write not necessarily spell

Portfolio

For the student, using a portfolio creates an opportunity to be more actively engaged in the assessment process.

For the teacher, it can be a springboard for reshaping strategies and planning new classroom activities geared to a specific needs of the individual student.

A portfolio requires students to select and present work for a particular purpose
Uses for a portfolio vary in the classroom
Main strength is to provide instruction and is instructional
Often includes multiple drafts and samples of various genres of writing
Can also collect writing from diverse subject areas
Used strategically, a teacher gains powerful developmental picture of how a student is processing.

Using this mode in padlet for my notes makes it easier to read not only for me, but for others. They are simple enough to follow with having maid ideas included and defined to the best they can be. I quite enjoy using padlet as it's an easy website/application to use and lets you be creative at the same time. Using this as a note taking tool is probably easier than having to write out notes with your pen and paper. Also, you can never lose these notes as they are saved onto the website. The best part is you can create them in however way you want! :)
