She discovered that she could not swim in her local river because it was contaminated with sewage. Not only did she discover that her river was gravely contaminated but she also discovered that 600 sewage pipes were illegally dumping raw sewage into the river. Her findings went viral in her Facebook page and caught the attention of policymakers in all 3 levels of government who altogether pledged 15.7 million dollars toward the project. She has also won awards such as:
  •  2020, Stella was the youngest-ever recipient of the Order of Nova Scotia.
  • 2018, Stella was the only Canadian to win a Young Eco-Hero Awards.
  • 2017, Stella received Canada’s Meritorious Service Medal
When she is not speaking publicly, Stella uses her prize money to teach other young generations on how to test waterways and get involved in water cleaning movements.

I would conduct surveys and make graphs to show my findings. After gathering my proof I would organize a rally to have supporters for the issue of concern. More supporters means the government will be more convinced to help with the issue. Once the government is convinced they will take the issue to higher concerns. For example, my issue of concern is global warming.
