I personally think that the IDS modules are interesting and beneficial to me as an instructor at the higher learning institution. The contents covered were adequate for the 2 days course for each module. However, I would appreciate if the master trainers could provide the modules or presentation slides to the participants for future reference. For the other materials prepared and linked in Padlet are very useful.

The IDS module is very important and very much relevance to me and other participants because we are all educators who have to teach; and we must first design our instructions or lesson. Honestly, I’ve been planning and designing my instruction in my teaching and learning process but not to the extent that I design the instruction according to the systematic instructional design model or theories. This module has open my mind that a good instruction must undergo systematic instructional design process.

The instructional design process however is not a simple task; therefore I sometimes tend to skip or neglected some of the important stage. For example, I always assume my students have similar entry level and therefore I tend to provide same activities or task to every student without really conducting a preliminary analysis of my student’s knowledge, skills or needs. This is not a good practice because “one size does not fit all”. From this IDS module I realized that the analysis is the most important phase that we must conducted first because the findings from this phase will affect the entire instructional design strategies; how we design our materials, activities, and the assessment. As we are now moving towards more constructivist learning and dealing with adult learners, the analysis phase will be the avenue for us to profile our learners and then design the instruction based on their needs and preferences.

I have learnt so much from this IDS module and has added my prior knowledge on IDS. As I am an academic in the Education faculty, I have been familiarizing with this concept and have been practicing IDS in my current teaching practice. However, there are many areas that I need to improve in my own IDS practice. I think I am now confidence and ready to share this IDS module with other educators, and at the same time keep learning and improving myself through sharing ideas with others. But it would be good if we can get the full module to guide the sharing process.

Currently, I am conducting a research project that is related to IDS and has been sharing the findings of the research through paper and poster presentation, exhibition and publication. I am hoping to conduct more research related to IDS in the future so that I can improve my knowledge and understanding about IDS.
