This video provides a brief introduction to the most basic superficial first signs of ODD. The woman speaking goes on to explain what could be underlying causes of the child's ODD and its commonality in school age children and among genders. She is a real believer in the benefits of behavioral therapy which can act as an affective treatment for ODD. She also stresses the importance of parental involvement, oversight, and contribution to the rehabilitation/treatment process.

The first portion of the video acts in more of the diagnostic capacity, highlighting important caveats that may point to symptoms of ODD or point to what is known as Conduct Disorder or other disorders. He dives into the causes, such as developmental trauma, parenting practices or social underdevelopment. He warns that there is no medication that is recommended to children who struggle with ODD, and states that there may be no physiological issues and implies that it maybe wholly based on a child's nurturing.

In this video, a woman who was brutally attacked as a child, talks about how the attack led her to enter the child psychology field, with a focus on Conduct Disorder, and led her to want to try to understand her attacker. She began focusing on the neurobiology of empathy and how it can go awry in children with aggression. As she continued her research, every insight made her more compassionate towards her attacker and made her realize her attacker was worthy of remediation. She talks about how violence at a later age isn't usually some spontaneous phenomena but are often continuations of developmental issues from when these adults were children. She shows MRI's that show the difference in scans that show a difference in perception between a group of kids that she studied. The culmination of her research proves how important it is to show compassion towards kids, even when it's difficult, because that might save them in the future.

This video is a simple initiation to the severity of Conduct Disorder. The woman speaking goes on to explain what Conduct Disorder can look like in children, ie, getting into fights, many detentions, suspensions, violence, etc.. She describes how this is a chronic and long term disorder that can be carried on into adult hood and can affect anything from getting a job to keeping a long term relationship. She stresses the fact that no time can be lost when parents believe that their child may have Conduct Disorder, and that they should seek help right away.

She uses the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders in order to provide specifics on the behaviors of a child with Conduct Disorder and what behaviors might remove Conduct Disorder from possible diagnoses for parents who are unsure. She spends the majority of the video listing red flags and things for parents to look out for, and she briefly delves into causes, such as problems during a Childs upbringing, or a genetic and/or hereditary component, saying that problems in any of those areas are at a way higher risk.

This video acts as a guide to distinguish Conduct Disorder in children. He explains that in younger children Conduct Disorder is described as Anti-Social Disorder, and then in adulthood has a twenty percent chance of ending up in prison. He describes the school to prison pipeline and the importance of nipping a diagnosis in the bud. He goes on to make the claim that Conduct Disorder in the early years are the roots of almost all violent crime. The crux of his presentation is giving teachers the tools to target and treat children who exhibit signs of Conduct Disorder: Language Intervention (waiting for the good moments and not the bad ones to intervene) being the main one. He backs up his theories with statistical evidence in a high accuracy experiment.

Growing up my best friend, my brother in arms, struggled with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I feel as thought I would have researched this topic sooner if I hadn't been sure that to anyone, but me, my best friend was wholly misunderstood. When this project was assigned I was shocked at how quickly I chose ODD and Conduct Disorder. I've certainly found some peace in the fact that the adults surrounding him could make an accurate diagnosis, but their application of treatment was well below the standard of TedTalk intellectuals even YouTube therapists. I had first chosen to focus on ODD alone, knowing that that was my brother's plight. However, upon listening to many of the videos posted here, it was obvious the child they were describing was my friend, and it was made clear that without adequate help the next evolution of his behavior could very well be the symptoms of the more sever Conduct Disorder.

After finally getting expelled from school, I feared what life would be like for him without my supervision, guidance and informed dialogue with the adults around him. At that time I had little contact with him and couldn't confirm for myself that he was being remediated. I was hoping to quell my fears with this research... I'm not sure that I have but for some reason I do feel more at peace knowing that he doesn't have a wrap sheet.
