We can also interview people who know about heritage, how it impacts us and also how to preserve it.

LOI2: We will interview parents and experts in the field of heritage, history, and culture to learn more about the connection between heritage and identity in shaping our present and future communities.

LOI3:We will try to collect data and information by using the medium of a survey for parent mentors and teachers and our seniors. this will help us know more about the significance of historical events and artifacts in understanding our own past.

• pictures, descriptions, or objects (e.g., a photo of the Taj Mahal, a video of Flamenco dancing, an image of the Great Barrier Reef, etc.).

• sort these into the four categories of heritage.

• Extension: Write a short explanation of how each example helps us understand the past (e.g., "The Taj Mahal shows Mughal architectural innovation and cultural values of the 17th century").

Cultural Interview

• Objective: Connect with personal and local heritage.

• Activity:

  • interview a family member or community elder about a tradition, festival, or historical site they value.

  • present what they learned and explain how the tradition/site connects to the past.

  • Guiding Questions:

    • What is the origin of this tradition/site?

    • How has it changed over time?

      Explore the stories embedded in heritage forms.

    • Activity:

      • Share a folktale, legend, or historical story tied to a heritage site or tradition (e.g., the story of the Colosseum or the origins of Holi).

      • Retell the story through a different medium (e.g., comic strips, skits, or a short essay).

• Objective: Locate and understand the global distribution of heritage sites.

• Activity:

  • Students research heritage sites in different countries and pin them on a world map.

  • Include details like the type of heritage, its history, and its current state of preservation.

• Objective: Connect historical events and artifacts to the local community.

• Activity:

  • Organize a field trip to a local museum or historical site.

  • Students document key artifacts or events and reflect on how these have shaped the local community’s history.

  • Extension: Discuss how local history connects to global events.

Exploring Heritage Through Music

• Objective: Connect music to cultural heritage and identity.

• Activity:

  • Students research traditional music from their culture or another heritage.

  • Each student designs a square representing their cultural heritage.

  • Combine the squares into a class "Identity Quilt" to showcase diversity and unity within the community.

Future Heritage Predictions

• Objective: Explore how heritage evolves to shape identity.

• Activity:

  • Students imagine how their traditions might look 50 years from now.

  • Create a visual or written depiction of future communities shaped by heritage.

This legacy is not limited to objects and structures, but also includes traditions, values, beliefs, and cultural expressions. Cultural heritage is fundamental to understanding our identity, both as individuals and as communities, and is strengthened through living experience and the connection to the past. It is a essential part of understanding our past but it also affects our present and future through identity, culture and tradition
