Six Sigma is a data-driven business methodology that can be applied across many different sectors. In part, Six Sigma is a measurement that aims to identify and reduce defects within a process to improve operations and ensure profitability. General Electric was one of the first major companies to take on the Six Sigma methodology and reported a $10 billion benefit within its first five years of Six Sigma use. 

The Six Sigma processes are carried out by managers certified at the Green or Black Belt level.
