         <description><![CDATA[<div>E<em>lizabethan team sports gained in popularity during the reign of queen Elizabeth. the team sports were enjoyed by both the team members and the audience. the Elizabethan era was dangerous and violent , blood sports were enjoyed involving bears, bulls, chickens and dogs. team sports were also violent - even some card games were played in teams such as ' ruff and honours', the out come of team sports were subject to heavy gaming and gambling&nbsp;</em></div>]]></description>

The Elizabethan clothing laws were used to control "behaviour" and ensure that specific 'class' structure was maintained. The penalties for violating the clothing laws could be harsh - fines, loss of property, title and even life</em></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>The Elizabethan theatre was a booming business, people loved the theatre during this era. The Elizabethan plays and theatres were as popular as the movies during this century. large amounts of money could be made, the in-keepers increased their profits by allowing plays to be shown on temporary stages in the yards of their inns. soon purpose built play-houses and large open theatres were being constructed. the theatre was an expanding industry during the Elizabethan era. many theatres were built in and around the city of London. the excitement , money and fame lured many people into the theatre life.  </em></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>the plays of William shakespeare were divided into three categories (comedies , tragedies and histories)&nbsp;<br>each genre required a different emotion setting to be reflected in the music. the introduction of new musical instruments such as the early violin (viol)&nbsp;<br>queen elizabeth was a patron of all the arts and encouraged elizabethan composers and musicians. music played a huge part in court life , nobles were expected to entertain their guest and to show their talent in dancing.&nbsp;</em></div>]]></description>
