Personal Connection and Reflection to the Book

I feel a special connection to this book because of my aunt, Beth Anne. Despite facing challenges, she was incredibly intelligent and always eager to try new things. When Beth Anne became very ill and started having seizures due to Tubular sclerosis, a serious disease that often affects one's ability to walk and talk, it made life even more difficult for her. She was diagnosed with special needs because of this illness, which she got when she was just 2 years old. Despite these obstacles, Beth Anne had remarkable talents. She taught herself to play the piano and spent many hours creating beautiful music. She also enjoyed making intricate designs with a toy called a light bright, and she was exceptionally skilled at solving jigsaw puzzles.

Beth Anne's story resonates deeply with the themes of love and resilience in "Letter to Sam." Even in the face of adversity, she persevered and achieved remarkable things. Her story is a testament to the idea that even when life throws challenges our way, we can still overcome them and accomplish incredible things. Reading "Letter to Sam" has changed how I see disability, love, and resilience. Before, I thought of disabilities as something that held people back. But now, I understand they're just one part of who someone is. This book helped me see that everyone deserves respect and kindness, no matter what challenges they face. The love between Sam and his grandfather is powerful. It made me realize that love isn't about what someone can or can't do and it's about caring for them no matter what. Seeing how much Gottlieb loves Sam inspired me to show more love and support to the people in my life. Even when things are tough, Sam and his grandfather keep going. They find ways to be happy and find meaning in life. This book taught me that even when life is hard, there's always hope. It encouraged me to stay strong and keep going, even when things get difficult.
