During the conquests of the mongols, religious conflict was ironically not common. The mongols Tengri faith as described by the khan scribe was rather secular. Believing multiple views of god were correct. As such it was no shock when the khan invited a friar to discuss his religious views with various other theologians, showing through the friars writings that the khan may not be as brutal as one once thought.
