i wish that everyone is able to bounce off each other and ping ideas around. i want everyone to feel like they can rely on one another for support when they need help with their own project because i realise many of us tend to keep quiet when we need help and we don’t dare to ask for help. 

i also want to improve on self confidence and be more assured of what we do best and what we can work on. because the comm (including myself) is not confident in what our strengths are, we tend to not know how we can help each other as a team (which is what we should be doing because we are in fact a  team.) or see how we can contribute to help each other.

Honestly I felt that prefects are quite shy to speak up. I could see some improvement in terms of my communication skills when it comes to working in a team. Through my leadership experiences, I noticed that I can get very eager to take up opportunities  till I do not give others a chance. At times, I will take charge of a certain thing and want it to go my way which is not what a leader should be. For instance, in the teacher’s day project I was involved in, there was a filming day where we had to film teachers and students. During that day, I was the one arranging almost everything and all my other teammates just stood there and watched me handle everything. It was not until Faith came and had a talk with me. After the talk, I realised that I should have given my teammates a chance to plan and take charge of certain things. I learnt that as a leader, we have to give others a chance to lead so that as a team, we get to learn and grow together.

Having a good relationship with the people I work with such as the prefect comm members is very important so as to avoid conflicts when handling projects together. I am glad I did not encounter any issues or conflict with my fellow teammates and hope to continue having a good relationship with the people i’m working with. The prefect comm on the other hand, I think what went well was that we were efficient in completing our projects which resulted in many successful projects this year. There were definitely plenty of problems and hiccups here and there throughout every project but we managed to solve it and complete the project successfully.

Through my daily recess duty, I realised that at times I was afraid to speak up for what is right. For instance if I saw a group of students (the rebellious ones) not obeying SMM, instead of going to them myself, I would ask the other prefects to go because I was afraid of confronting them. Not being afraid to speak up for what is right is something I need to work on next year. The prefect comm as a whole could improve on our communication skills in terms of seeking and offering for help. At times, we need help for our individual projects yet did not ask the other prefect comm members for help. I also think that the other prefect comm members that are not involved in the project should offer to help. For me, I think the reason why we were not able to offer help was because we were so preoccupied with our individual projects that we became slightly oblivious with the other projects. However I know this is something that we can work on individually next year.

 You guys are very important figures in my life and I really really appreciate it, I can't imagine where I'll be without you guys.
