In March 2022, Dumfries and Galloway Council agreed a new Cultural Strategy for our region & endorsed the approach to establish a Dumfries and Galloway Cultural Partnership (DGCP) as a sector-led body to oversee the delivery of this Strategy.

The Cultural Strategy for Dumfries and Galloway outlines the vision that 'By 2030 Dumfries & Galloway's distinctive creativity, culture and heritage will have an international profile and be renowned for their contribution to the region's economy and quality of life.'

The strategy outlines 3 ambitions, and subsequent objectives, in response to what people said was important to them through the engagement phase:

•  The difference we make

• How can we work together to improve working conditions & inclusion in arts and heritage?

• How can community based culture shape the places where we live?

• What are the skills and learning pathways needed to support the arts & heritage of the future?

• How can we embed the benefits of culture in health and wellbeing work?

• What can we do to lift up our cultural offer for local and visiting audiences?

These 5 areas will form the initial Thematic Groups for the Partnership, who will work together to review their relevance and identify gaps and areas for further development.

We will be exploring sector priorities, representation and ways of working at the Culture Calling event.

At just 14, Ella Campbell captivated audiences at the CatStrand’s Battle of the Bands 2023 with original songs. Her lush vocals, adept guitar skills and composed stage presence have earned her performances at Knockengorrach Festival, a residency at Bonnie Bistro, and more gigs all over the region. Her knack for storytelling in her lyrics make her a notable talent with a promised future.
