Then leading into the next stanza the author starts to develop his theme through using specific word choice of "our". The theme solidifies of living through your child to the end of the last stanza. 
The structure of the poem "My Son My Executioner" every other line is rhyming with one another which makes the poem coherent to read and understand. The specific word choice makes the stanzas shorter because the author wrote about his son using first plural which helps connect each stanza to form its theme. The author uses the word "our" in the second stanza to describe how he is living through his son and how they connect in his mind.
