In the Cordillera region, "watwat" is more than just boiled meat; it is a culturally significant offering imbued with luck and wealth. During a "canao" (ritual feast), a pig or other animals are sacrificed and prepared through a detailed process, including specific ways of handling, cooking, and slicing the meat. This practice is a means of sharing one's wealth and symbolizes bringing home good fortune. A thoughtful Igorot does not consume all his or her “watwat” in one occasion. Remember, that is a piece of luck and wealth being shared, and considering that it has been blessed by hundreds and thousands of souls and spirits so one must bring home his “watwat.” This would also symbolize bringing home good luck.
