In this scene it is one of the first instances of Lady Macbeth first being paranoid and letting Macbeth be in charge of a situation. In Lady Macbeths first section of speech, she mentions her being in fear of her food being tampered with, this shows her paranoia towards the people she works with. She is in constant fear and paranoia of her being poisoned or her being hurt, etc. She also lets Macbeth be in charge when she says her last line in the scene which was, what shall we do? Instead, Macbeth considers murder as a solution to his problems rather than how he first perceived murder as the issue itself. Moreover, this scene places emphasis on the role reversal that's occurred following Macbeth's ascension to the throne and how he holds the assertive position in the relationship between him and Lady Macbeth, with this role reversal being showcased through how Macbeth is the one plotting and instructing Lady Macbeth to commit Banquo's murder.
