Another example of the privacy that he has is the ability to turn the speaker in his house on and off. All other houses have speakers in them, but if they don't want to listen to it they just have to ignore it. The Receiver's house has these differences because he has much more honor than the others. He has the most important job in the whole utopia, so he gets more access in his business. The first memory that the Giver transmits to Jonas is the memory of snow. I believe that this is not a good way to live because of the phrase "history repeats itself." If the children don't learn about the times before them, they could make the same mistakes that others have. I can infer that the other citizens in the community don't have much privacy in their own homes. They are all being listened to by the speakers whether they want to be or not.
