During the 1500's and 1600's in England, a group of people wanted to separate themselves from the church of England. The Pilgrims fled from England because they were not allowed to practice their religious beliefs. These Pilgrims had to risk their lives and the comforts of their homeland in order to start a new life in America. Their American Dream was to live in a place where they could safely practice their religious beliefs and not have anyone tell them not to.

The Puritan lifestyle was influenced by the church and Christian belief. Puritan laws and members were expected to follow a strict moral code. They believed that if they followed their principles, they would be rewarded. This helped shape their American Dream in a way that they continued practicing their religious beliefs.
