There is an abundant amount of Education Leaders within the Pre-K through 12 school systems. For example, the main one being teachers who practically shape who we are and our development from the moment we start school. Being an educational leader, stands out to me because I already am (somewhat) of an educator. I work for an after school program within the Elk Grove Unified School District where I get granted the opportunity to work with so many kids of different ages. I have loved getting to make so many memories and impact my students lives just within the after school program. The things I have learned and influences I have made could be that much bigger if I pursued educating by becoming a teacher.

In this video, Gregory Chahrozian, an educator lectures in colleges as well as teaching secondary education gives advice on what makes a teacher a "good one". Despite my topic focusing on Pre-K through 12 education, I think the advice he provides is still influential and helpful for those who want to pursue teaching. He starts a conversation with his audience on what they remembered about their teachers and the characteristics of those who truly made positive impacts. Chahrozian remembers his educators and what made them so memorable, whether they be good, bad, or in between. As a teacher, he also brings up his experiences about his students and the families he has encountered. Overall, Chahrozian wants future educators to understand that they should be educating for the proper reasons, and teaching to make impacts for the students. After listening to his talk, if anything it makes me feel reassured about this career path, I already do the job I do for my students, so to think about making deeper connections and better impacts feels very important to me. However, I would love to know how to avoid the burnout I have heard many teachers, even those who are there for their students, face these days. Are there ways to get by it? Or is it inevitable?

After conducting my research on Educational Leaders, I have begun to understand the vast amount of characteristics and requirements it can take. As said previously, I already work with Pre-K through 6th grade students on an almost daily basis, so because of this I am lucky to say I have some work experience. In terms of schooling, to become an educator for Pre-K through 12, you must have a bachelor's degree which I am in the process of obtaining at this moment, and following your degree future teachers go into teacher preparation programs. This is followed up with student teaching, which then leads to becoming a teacher. While some of these requirements align with my goals, some of them don't. I do believe I could make a great educator, with experience and an open mind, and it is definitely something I will ensure I consider throughout school. I tend to be a very spirited, kind, and patient person which would allow for a teacher who could make many differences. After this reflection, I have definitely learned things I will apply to my current job as well as a sense of gratefulness that I get to work with students. Overall, I believe educational leaders and agencies make huge differences on students lives, as we spend so much time with students. Ensuring we provide them with a safe and comforting space at school is the best thing we can do to start off.
