Tanja Wessbecher“You’ve got two choices, either you stay and do nothing or you are active.”And we have made the choice to be active not only because we have been here…We have talked about different subjects today and I have thought of how different subject have been integrated in today’s schedule. There have been PE (snorkelling), Foreign Languages (French, English), Biology (How the mangrove grows/ Where and how the egrets and pelicans live). Or was it a kind of CLIL (Biology in French)? Finally there was Home Economics (a three course barbecue at the beach) and lots of cultural learning. Are there any subjects to add?

Today I understood all the people who own or drive a motorboat 🤣
Today I understood everybody spending money and time on snorkeling.
I am so happy that I had the courage to apply for this project, because it gives me much more than I could ever have thought of. Actually I found myself sending photos to a wide range of friends and international colleagues, because I felt a very strong desire to share my experiences or photos with them. I found specific topics which I knew, would be interesting for them. And they responded very positively. 👍📷🌈🌎

Today's discussion about globalization, showed me that even of out classes are different when concerning etnic background, teachers struggle with similar problems (dicrimination accusations, bullying of the different one, personality blasts). Citing Rita,we can't live like islands any more, the technology and echanges of population have made the world a global village. We have similar problems and we can't solve them only by intervening at local level,we need collaboration and practice echanges.

Today I felt a bit like Robinson Crusoe (on an island, alone, but at the same time with the whole world with me, in my head). I was delighted by the solitude of the remote island, but at the same time very much aware that it is like a person, changed, whether it wants or not, by the world around. Everything is interconnected in society, much as it is in nature.

Today was a fantastic day for me.I learnt that everything is possible, the World is very small and people can get along regardless of race, language or culture, as long as they are open to listen patiently to the other.

Multiculturalism: so like the mangrove. Needs two different things for the roots, sweet and salty water. We have so many traditions and habits but none can live alone. So we need different things to create our culture. And than the growing process. The population with the same culture grows. Same with the mangrove. Strong roots can feed the trees and they can multiply. The fishes and the birds. The fishes need safe place to multiply and the birds need calm place to stay for the night. So like we, multicultural people do. We accept different people from different culture, we understand and respect each other and live together in the same culture without destroying each others life.
Different weather conditions can force the mangrove to adapt and stay in alive. So like we do. Globalisation requires different way of thinking but still in the same culture we need to accept other things.
And the leaves. One of them is always yellow and falling down. And than an other one grows. It is the same with the identity. If we have a lot of impressions and experiences we need to clear ourselves and think again who are, what are our main caracteristics.
Mangrove is the perfect example to show how is multuculturalism.

so how to incorporate these two attitudes:
> you are a global citizen, one responsible human being
> you can't change the world, you only can change yourself
Sure, your own change might change your direct environment, and your attitude surely does have an impact on your surrounding - especially on students at school. So we teach to think globaly and to act localy.
Still, a responsibe behaviour in concerne of global thinking can be demanding at times , for example now as we have flown around the world, have accepted that more corals were destroyed, drink bottles water from France ...
You see my difficulties of incorporating?
I love our planet, it's lush nature here in Gwada, the snow in the Alps, the fish in the sea and the birds in the air.

one day later I want to add that I was basically thinking of sustainability. There is also the aspect of conflict and peace and rights and responsibility.
