My great-uncle was in the merchant navy in World War II. Sadly, his ship was torpedoed and he died. My Grandma never got to see her brother again. The ship was the Victoria City and this is photograph of it:

Both of my Grandfathers were in World War Two. My Mum's father was in the Royal Navy, and my Dad's father was in the Army. They were both in mainland Europe for V.E Day.

My Grandad guarded the prisoners in Germany at the end of World War II, my Great-Uncle fought in the navy from the start of World War II both of them are still alive today also my Grandmother was evacuated to the Isle Of Man in 1940

My auntie was 9 in Liverpool during WW2, when the bomb squad cornered off her house because they heard a "tick,tick, ticking" coming from their Anderson shelter in the garden. When the guards went to investigate they found Auntie Barbara sat inside clicking her needles as she was knitting!!

Both my grandfathers and their brothers fought in WW2. My grandfathers survived 2 sunk battleships and numerous land attacks, unfortunately their brothers did not make it back home. We will remember and pray for all those impacted by human loss or injury because of war.

My Great Grandad served in the army during WW2. He was captured at Dunkirk and was taken as a prisoner of war. He spent the rest of the war being marched between different camps. The final camp he stayed in was Bergen Belsen - this is where he was when the war finally came to an end. When he eventually returned home, he had no teeth left. He didn't like to talk about the war or the things that he had seen.

My Great Grandad survived both of the wars but sadly he died because of the thoughts he had when he could hear a train (then we lived across the road from a train track) go past. My grandad was very shoked and he was upset.

My nan' daughter's friend is part of the Turkish army soldier,he is very brave to do this and his mom too and still he is alive safe and sound.im surprised he is still alive!

my great great Grandma was only about 6 when the world war 2 was on and survived but sadly she died of hearing boms going of in her head. she never wanted to talk about it.

my grandmas mum was about 10 when WW2 was ended

My Nan was 17-18 during WW2. She was responsible for making sure all the windows were blocked every night and all the lights in the houses were off, to prevent being target in a raid. she lived in a little village in Wales. She would cycle round the village at night wearing an old fashioned helmet. she is still alive and is 93 now.

My great great great grandad private 16335 thomas william nicholls faught in ww1. He was killed in action 25/9/15. He had a son that he never got to meet.
