The Mostar Bridge (Bosnian: Stari Most) is a bridge over the Neretva river that runs through Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The original bridge was built by Mimar Hayreddin, a student of Mimar Sinan, in 1566[1] and was used for 427 years until it was destroyed by Croatian forces on 9 November 1993 during the Bosnian-Croatian War. Architect Hayreddin used 456 blocks of stone for the bridge.[2] The bridge also gave its name to the surrounding city. Mostar became the main city of the Herzegovina region. A project was prepared to rebuild the bridge and on 23 July 2004 the new bridge was put into service. The bridge was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005.

Trajan's Bridge was a bridge built by Apollodorus of Damascus, the architect of the Column, between the spring of 103 and the spring of 105 on the Lower Danube, east of the Iron Gates, in the town of Drobeta-Turnu Severin (Romania). The purpose of the construction was to facilitate the transport of Roman troops led by Trajan and the supplies needed for the second military campaign to conquer Dacia from King Decebalus.

The bridge of San Francesco di Paola in Taranto, better known as the "swing bridge" due to the possibility of opening to the passage of ships, is the structure that connects the island of Borgo Antico with the peninsula of Borgo Nuovo. Inaugurated on May 22, 1887 by Admiral Ferdinando Acton, the bridge crosses a navigable canal 375 meters long, 73 meters wide and 12 meters deep along its axis, which joins the Mar Grande to the Mar Piccolo. Due to the presence of the bridge, the width in the narrowest section of the canal is limited to 58 meters.
