On the outskirts of Ruma, in the so-called "Breg" area, surrounded by single-story houses, the baroque façade of the one-story building of “Ivo Lola Ribar” Primary School stands out. For decades, a worn-out gate closed off the school grounds. Now, through the bars of the iron gate, passersby can see a well-kept garden, behind which stretch sports fields bordered by lawns and trees. The charm and warmth of the setting are enhanced by the pigeons living in the attic of the building, feeding on leftover snacks from the children, and then flying up into the rich canopy of the chestnut tree whose branches tower above the school. The presence of children, their laughter and joy, bring every corner of this green oasis to life, making the impression even more captivating.
