There was a time when I was offered a really good opportunity to go to a professional sports game with one of my friends, but my family had already decided to go to my cousin's senior spotlight hockey game. I knew that it would mean more if I went to his hockey game instead of going to the sports game.

There was one day at work when I really didn't want to be there so every small inconvenience irritated me. There was an elderly lady who came up to the register and she was telling me how she had recently moved into an assisted living home and her family rarely came to visit her. She said that coming into my store was the highlight of her day and she always loved to shop around. She then thanked me for having a conversation with her and that she really appreciated having someone to talk to. In that moment I realised the power of compassion and that what may seem small to you can mean the world to someone else.

When they started they realized that there was a lot more to fix than they had originally thought. My mom was keeping me up to date with everything and I was nervous for my grandma. My parents always told me to pray for those who were in bad health, so I prayed a lot over that day until her surgery was over.

Matt took my brother to school that morning because I had to stay and wait for the police and he offered to before I could even think of it. Super mom stayed with me and helped take over the situation after I told her I didn't know what to do. My parents came and picked me up after I talked to police because I didn't want to drive home.
