Something is missing in our culture.. To be vibrantly alive...

We builded up the entertainment, we like to watch movies, sitting on our couches, critisizing sportmans.

We need to love our feeling of being alive and the passion in it. And It is missing. Maybe you capture that and find it.

Culture is teaching comfort because comfort is numbing (necitlivost) which gives us entertainment. You dont have to go to the forest naked but i just give this a a example to feel alive in every moment.

We can see those people in Survivals and heroes in movies, but they are just not the real heroes.>> Here is lot of other people are going to much lower physical and mental resources. Here is people who are trying to get trough each breath, each day... that is the powerful realization.

The commons is a space between the public and the private, in the urban realm or in its financing: architecture refuses to be a product and a service and seizes on collective necessities. The production of commons, spatially, presents and new notion of sharing, negotiation, and usage; architecture seeks to create new political forces, new ways of acting, and new forms of the local. These new architectural practices were spurred by the urgent need for act-to-battle for non-market spaces, for shared civic spaces. Above all, these spaces are defined by their use and not by their property; they are spaces governed by participatory processes, inviting processes that allow for shifting programs and open uses.

New Commons For Europe

Flavien Menu For the past decade, participation in planning and design has been a big trend across Europe- and there are a lot of redundant questions about who's participating and what kinds of things they want to protect. Often the people who participate are mainly there to protect self-interest and individual privileges. So how do you keep the project in line with your first intention and how do you resist the NIMBY attacks? How do you keep your ideals without being too disrupted by collaboration, participation, and related consensua attitudes?

Mathieu Delorme We are not asking them the big questions. We discuss only specific topics. We were selected by the city for our project and we are defending our project. So we are not compromising the big picture but only sharing questions linked to the main ambition. We explained to the people that we were chosen by the politicians that they elected. It is also our role to be pedagogic about the democratic system of city-making and we explained to them that they are part of it, that they are participating in determining the answers to specific questions. Citizens have to acknowledge that they gave power to certain elected bodies to make decisions for them about broader policies and the built environment.

Commons for Europe, s. 54

The idea is to create a shortcut in order to put individuals' money into the local economy instead of investing it into classic financial products. We try to make shortcuts between individual savings and the global financial economy This money can contribute to making a communal forest, or more generous architecture with shared spaces, a loan system for youth entrepreneurs. We want to create more direct links to make people invest in local projects instead of fuelling capital investments. I've seen so many tool kits, all sort of pedagogies, ways of creating a kind of Esperanto around participation and its methodologies. There seems to be no uniform, consensual or international language on how we do this. No community is ever fixed, but fiuid. So what kinds of activities can be implemented to enable those who come late to a project to have some kind of stakeholder infiuence over the outcomes?

Commons For Europe, s.56

The Exhibition draws inspiration from the model of a utopian dream by Marino Auriti who filed a design with the U.S. Patent office in 1955, depicting his Palazzo Enciclopedico (The Encyclopedic Palace), an imaginary museum that was meant to house all worldly knowledge. Auriti created a model of a 136-story building to be built in Washington D.C., which would stand seven hundred meters tall and take up over sixteen square city blocks.

“Auriti’s plan was never carried out, of course – says Massimiliano Gioni - but the dream of a universal, all-embracing knowledge crops up throughout the history of art and humanity, as one that eccentrics like Auriti share with many other artists, writers, scientists, and self-proclaimed prophets who have tried — often in vain — to fashion an image of the world that will capture its infinite variety and richness. Today, as we grapple with a constant flood of information, such attempts seem even more necessary and even more desperate.”

“Blurring the line between professional artists and amateurs, outsiders and insiders, the exhibition takes an anthropological approach to the study of images, focusing in particular on the realms of the imaginary and the functions of the imagination. What room is left for internal images — for dreams, hallucinations and visions — in an era besieged by external ones? And what is the point of creating an image of the world when the world itself has become increasingly like an image?”

Arnold Berleant – The Aesthetic of Environment

Environmental Appreciation: The appreciation of environment draws people to many different activities: visiting gardens and parks, hiking, camping, bicycling, canoeing, sailing, and even gliding and flying. For some it is the main appeal of certain sports, such as golf. Yet while environment is increasingly appreciated for its aesthetic character, there is active debate on the explanation and theory of that appreciation. Certain complexities make it even more difficult to develop an aesthetics of environment than of art. For one thing, environment involves perceptual categories that are wider and more numerous than those usually recognized in the arts. No single sense dominates the situation; rather, all the modes of sensibility are involved. Sight, touch, hearing, smell, and its correlate, taste, are all active in environmental experience. So, too, is the proprioceptive awareness of internal muscular and visceral sensations and the kinesthetic sense of movement. Cognitive factors often are present in environmental appreciation to a degree found only occasionally in art. An awareness of geological and land use history, for example, is very much part of traversing an old footpath, viewing an eroded hillside, or climbing the rough heights of a morainal landscape.

https://www.amazon.com/Aesthetics-Environment-Arnold-Berleant/dp/1566393345

I found a true story about two light housekeepers in Wales, Thomas and Thomas, and a storm comes, and I was like, “A storm comes because ... here’s the first 10 pages. There’s Thomas and Thomas, a mermaid has washed up on shore at the midpoint. The bad weather comes when he kills a sea bird, and there’s a mystery in the Fresnel lens, and there’s a foghorn, and now we have to figure out everything else.” My approach is entirely researched-based, and so my brother took that on as his approach for this as well.

“What does Rob see at the end of the movie?” I said, “Well, if I photographed that, you would have the same fate befall you and I can’t do that to the audience.”

Ephraim Winslow is sent on a boat to serve a contract job as a wickie for four weeks on on an isolated island, under the supervision of an irritable elderly man named Thomas Wake.

Winslow in the first day of the job, Winslow notices a hole in his cot. This starts his fantasy imagination (mermaid,...)

Winslow observes Wake going up to the lighthouse's lantern room at night and stripping naked.

As the weeks progress, Winslow repeatedly encounters a one-eyed gull. Wake warns Winslow that it is bad luck to kill a gull, as he is superstitious that the animals are reincarnated sailors. Winslow reveals that he used to work in Canada as a timber man, but decided to change professions.

One afternoon Winslow kills the one-eyed seagull, the storm starts to be coming. Mens start to be in tension. Winslow tries to steal the keys of the lighthouse tower.

One night, Winslow tells Wake that his real name is Thomas Howard and that he assumed the identity of Ephraim Winslow, Howard's foreman who died in an accident Howard failed to stop. With no alcohol left, the two begin mixing spirits out of denatured alcohol and the storm becomes so powerful that waves crash through the windows of the cottage.

No alcohol left. One morning Howard finds Howard finds Wake's log (book), recording his infractions and recommending severance without pay.

Howard begs him to see the light that Wake has been keeping from him. Wake berates Howard and Howard attacks him and later kill him.

He approaches the Freshel Lense (the bulb invention which saved the lifes of many sailors) and it stops and opens up to him. Howard gazes into the mirrored interior in ecstasy and reaches his arm inside. He then lets out distorted screams as the light brightens, before slipping, breaking his leg and falling down the lighthouse steps. Howard is finally seen lying naked on the rocks, missing an eye, as several gulls peck at his innards while being alive.

Naše hranice: Zde a tam:

Oddělují a sou- časně spojují. Ať hranice oddělují cokoli, ať se kdokoli nachází na jedné i na druhé straně hranic, tyto hranice jsou jejich společnou hranicí. Hranice proto značí i blízkost a sousedství. Společná hranice spojuje navzájem i ty, kteří nemají společného nic jiného než právě tuto hranici.
... Hranice, at už se chtějí určovat jakkoli, at už je střetneme kdekoli, nás staví před prastarý problém veškeré morálky: Co mám dělat.

(s. 126)

Za aktuálních podmínek by propa- govaná bezhraničnost vedla spíše ke světové občanské válce, než k novému humánnímu uspořádání poměrů. Dokud existují diference politických ústav společenství, dokud existují různé formy společností, dokud existuje silná obliba úrovně blahobytu u zemí a regionů, dokud jsou životní podmínky a životní šance na této planetě rozděleny nerovnoměrně, budou muset existovat i odpovídající hranice, které budou vždy dvojí: signály vyloučení i příslib lepšího života.

(s. 127)

The sa THE SOCIAL CONTRACT. TWO FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS:

1) why do humans need government in the first place or how did people come to realize that government was a good idea at all?

2) what is the role of government in the lives of the individual citizens, or how much authority should that government have.

...you have signed the social contract in your birth, the choice was made for you by thousands of years of human civilization.

The opposite is the “state of nature" with no rules. All crime is legal,... (as the movie Purge). If there is no private property, nothing belongs to everyone or everything belongs to everyone.

T. H. quote: “In such condition there is no place for industry, because the fruit thereof is uncertain: and consequently no culture of the earth; no navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported by sea,... the worst of all – contiunal fear" ...Morality doesn't exist

T. H. quote: "Where there is no common power, there is no law; where no law, no injustice. Force and fraud are in war the two cardinal virtues. Justice and injustice are none of the faculties neither of the body nor mind. If they were, they might be in a man that were alone in the world, as well as his senses and passions. They are qualities that relate to men in society, not in solitude.”

In state of nature there is no goal to "good" or "bad", there is only your "good" in sense of "self preservation" We are self-oriented survival machines looking fro our self-preservation.

SO:
People would do WAR in state of nature:
So that in the nature of man, we find three principal causes of quarrel (hádka).
1) Competition 2) Diffidence 3) Glory (sláva)
"...if any two men desire the same thing, which nevertheless they cannot both enjoy, they become enemies, and in the way to their End"

After this people realise that they can achieve the self-preservation more easily and effectively if they communicate with each other and seek peace.

TWO WAYS:
1) Natural gifts to others, buy them as a slaves. But it doesn't work, other also have the natural sources.
2) Sighning a contract to do the self-preservation together in order to do it more effectively under the contract. But shaking hands is not enough. (it is underestimated because human can be very selfish). It so quickly goes into the state of bargaining (smlouvání).

For this we need the leader (the LEVIATHAN) The leader with absolute authority to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants in the interest of maintaining the contract. His job, is to keep us OUT of that terrible, perpetual state of war that we would otherwise find ourselves in.

Those becomes the moral orther that you follow. The state of nature is the state of war. The social contract is the opposite: the state of peace.

Hobbes says you may not understand why the laws are put in place, but because you benefit from the fruits of society, you should follow the laws of the sovereign because they are meant to keep the peace, they are meant to prevent us from declaring war on each other.

The collection of self-preservation possibilities is Natural law.
If the main goal is self-preservation, then any act that is destructive to yourself in any way in the long term, is bad.

Natural Law is ultimately what follows as a set of fundamentals to live by.

The paper proposes that systems can be classified along a ‘spectrum of complexity’ and that under specific conditions not only social systems but also natural and artificial systems can be considered ‘complex reflexive.’ The epistemological challenges associated with scientifically understanding a phenomenon stem not from whether its domain is social, natural, or artificial, but where it falls along this spectrum. Reflexive systems present particular challenges; however, evolutionary model-dependent realism provides a bridge between Soros and Popper and a potential path forward for economics.

Ruskin's "Of Truth of Water" defines water as "the best emblem of unwearied, unconquerable power, the wild, various, fantastic, tameless unity of the sea. " He suggests the "most wonderful" substance, water, consistent with "changefulness of beauty" — hence, why Ruskin compares its capturing to the capturing one's soul on canvas. Within the prophetic writing, Ruskin deems the element uncapturable — at least perfectly — is painting water truthfully "is beyond the power of man."

Anne–Francoise Schmid – Object and disciplines

For example, take a genetically-modified fish, as the object of a research project. We can treat it as a fish plus a genetic manipulation, so that the principal discipline will be molecular biology, with other disciplines having to make an appearance subsequently, to resolve obstacles that are met with along the way (traceability, law, international commerce, consumer perception, and, in the end, the study of the risks involved, and ethics). But instead, I suggest we could treat this object as a kind of unknown 'X' whose properties are distributed in an unprecedented way between different disciplinary forms of knowledge. An object with multiple dimensions, each of which is a discipline.

This is exactly the way that designers and inventors think: Not by seeing the object as the result of a disciplinary rationality, even a composite one, but by putting an unknown X into relation with islands of knowledge that cannot all be foreseen in advance.

That's why the next thrillion-dollar enterprise won't be about connecting but about keeping one's distance.

While social media allows us to get in contact, without any effort wherever we are, this endeavour will allow us to be us to be by ourselves without any effort wherever we are.

On the sea, there is no place to hide beyound the outlines of one's vessel. Here it's even more urgent to establish a new mode of privacy than on land. And in fact it's easier.

On a level field without any fixed obstacles where all object follow a rather straight course at a steady speed, there isn't too much computatuon needed to keep them all at a proper distance to smoothly altering their speed and direction.

On international waters most vessels are already on autopilot, monitored via authomatic identification system.

The ocean turns truly in common and not just for human kind.
Nobody hugs more evenly, more expansively, more patiently than the sea.

To hug a tree is a unilateral, paternalistic gesture. The tree can't initiate, return, refuse, or escape the encounter. When we let the sea hug us, we take the receptive, enduring position that we used to assign to the sea.

We can experience this hug on our own, together with friends, Or we build circles and gently bump into unknown parts of others' bodies, We can reconfigure as a floating chain, thath can stop certain ships from entering a harbor. Moderation is the process of eliminating or lessening extremes.

A way of life emphasizing perfect amounts of everything, not indulging in too much of one thing, hence moderation.

On Internet websited that invite users to post comments, a moderation system is the method the webmaster chooses to sort contributions that are irrelevant, obscene, illegal, or insulting with regards to useful or informative contributions.

On the internet is
* Supervisor moderation: group of people are chosen by webmaster
* Distributed moderation:
    * User moderation: any user moderates any pther user
    * Spontaneous moderation: where no official moderation exists. Without any ability to moderate comments, users will spontaneously moderate their peers through posting their own comments about others' comments. Because spontaneous moderation exists, no system that allows users to submit their own content can ever go completely without any kind of moderation.
