He grew up with a father who was a research engineer. His father was part of a governmental institution, Council for Scientific and industrial Research (CSIR). Ashifi 's mother was a serial entrepreneur she founded a nursery school in Kumasi. His mother then sold that and began another school. Inspired with all his parents work, Gogo then attended Whitman college where he then studied mathematics. In 2006,  Gogo and his old high school friend then reconnected and came up with the good use of technology to help identify the authenticity of a product.
