April is comically unmotivated. In one episode she tries numerous ways to get fired from her job, but her boss is consistent in using various motivational theories to retain her. At the opening of this clip, for example, he enthusiastically praises and reinforces her (extrinsic motivation) for a behavior “April, way to come in, great initiative!” With hopes that would increase her likelihood of responding to his request next time.

Herb Brooks in this video is from, Miracle on Ice. His team is playing the best, at the time, hockey team ever to be assembled in the Soviets; the task being practically impossible, especially since Brooks's players never played professionally. He gives a very motivational speech, which includes him turning their goal from extrinsic to intrinsic. He sways their goals to being the best team they can be, which would ultimately win them the game.
