·         Track and field is ideal for physical education because it is a sport that allows diverse students an opportunity to find success in different areas (O’Neill and Krause, 2016) 

·         Individual and team sports covered by track and field events 

·         Class for the most part has little to no athletic experience so preferable to have more teacher instruction early on giving way to facilitation

·         Experienced students athletes can coach in the latter stages 

·         Weaker students in class enjoy learning about sport too 

·         Offers alternate roles to athlete 

·         Culminating event of the model is ‘Olympic’ lesson, this will allow teams to pick a country and represent it 

·         Keeps module interesting and competitive throughout  

·         Students will partake in: Hurdles, relay, long jump, discuss, javelin and the final week will be an Olympic style event  

·         Not all students will be partaking in the activity itself as per the sports Ed model

·         Class will be divided into 5 groups of 5 

·         Roles will be proposed and alternate on a weekly basis 

·         Coaches: use of IPads and skill cards to provide feedback and instruction 

·         Athletes: Partake in the activity 

·         Equipment and officials: organisation of lesson and adhering to code of safety and event rules 

·         Researcher: investigates events and complies statistical information 

·         Students choose a country to represent

·         Research chosen country and design flags and posters 

·         Students train for Olympics
