I’m originally from Pennsylvania, but moved to Minnesota when I was about two. I’m an only child, so I grew up mostly around adults, meaning I watched 80’s movies like Roadhouse and Back to the Future, and grew up listening to things other than pop music. This made me love all things music and movie related. I swim on the SLP girls swim team, and I throw shot put and discus during track season. Being on those teams are definitely a support for me, as well as my friends. My friends are the most important people in my life and I cherish all my time with them.

What I Did This Summer

This summer went by pretty fast, but I was also extremely busy, so that could be why. A week after school ended, I had lifeguard training and got certified. I also had swim conditioning every morning until I went on vacation at the end of July. My vacation was mostly just a family get together in Pennsylvania. We went to a Pittsburgh pirates game, camped in my parents home town, and floated down a river in memory of my late uncle. When we got back from Pennsylvania, it was right back into swimming, with few breaks, but at least I got to go to the State Fair.

Positives In My Life

One thing going positively in my life is being on the swim team. I’ve been on the team for four years now, starting in seventh grade. I have also managed guys swim team every year since seventh grade as well. I’ve seen how it benefits students and myself. It creates a good work ethic, and having people to support you gives people the confidence to be themselves and know you can succeed. I love being on the team and having something to look forward to and have goals for myself.

My Favorite Artist

Frank Ocean is my favorite artist of all time, this song in particular is what sparked my love for him. Not only is the story in the song deep, but he samples the guitar solo from Hotel California in it. All of his music is unique and not a single song is disappointing.

School

I enjoy school, seeing my friends and knowing I’m learning new things that will affect my future. I would say my strengths are writing, not so much reading. My biggest struggle in both of those departments is my procrastination. I’m a heavy procrastinator, and it’s something I am working hard to change, although it feels difficult. I am very good at independent work, it allows me to be flexible and not worry about other people. I’ll work as a group if I have to, but it will never be my first choice. I enjoy reading books of my own choice; I feel that reading is an important thing to do since it stimulates your brain, but I don’t do it as much as I should. Some personal “health” related things, I get frequent migraines that if I don’t take medicine for I’ll throw up, not fun but it’s been happening since 5th grade. Last thing, I’m currently tweaking without my music and because it helps me focus, but I can’t do much about it, just putting it out there.
