This promotional video you are developing is all about your audience so you must have a thorough understanding of who they are. It is not enough to say “My target audience is everyone from 3 and over”. A 3 year old girl will require a very different message delivery from a 25 year old man. 

In your Assignment One Journal identify a specific group of people that will be the target of your promotional video and write a short rationale for this decision. 

Remember that as you embark on the process of researching you need to be objective and investigate your chosen message from different ethical perspectives. Even the key terms you use can influence the search results and potentially bias your position. Your research must present a balanced argument and all assertions you make must be able to be substantiated from the literature. 

You must show evidence of having consulted at least three academic sources (such as peer reviewed journal papers, conference papers, books and so on). You can include other references (for example Blogs, YouTube videos, Facebook Pages and other Websites) providing you cite from at least three academic sources as well. 

Be careful when referencing Websites to consider the ideology of the authors of the site, as the views presented on non-academic sites may not be authoritative, reliable or current. 

Before you begin researching, you will need a research question:

‘What do I need to show or say in the promo video that will persuade my audience to take action?’

Also consider your target audience when researching:

‘What do my target audience already know, think or feel about my message?’

Your Annotated Bibliography should also include at least three sources of video ads that are similar to yours. These can be similar in message or style. In your critique of each identify how your video will be similar or different.
