Religion is a big sector that plays a part of the Indian Caste Culture in different ways. In World Religions last year we learned about the caste system in Hinduism. Also, its part of history and social structure due to the caste system existing in the past. Finally, social structure because the caste system is part of ones society. For example the "untouchables" are a downgrade in the social class

I believe that both history and topography play a huge role in the caste system. History because it's a part of Indian past that these untouchables are the way they are. Hence why people identify them by their last names. Nothing can change the way people view them due to the actions of their ancestors. And also topography because their location plays a huge role as well to their actions. Only a certain area doesn't have toilets which causes them to deficate in the streets hence why that area is the way it is. You could also say that they have short time past and present oriented because they live day to day and survive by the day and look at the future less

According to the 6 determinants of culture, I think that the first one can be social structure. Since ever, the population in India is divided and there is an enormous gap between each group in the social hierarchy. It can be a combination between history and social structure. However, religion and climate can play a role as well. Due to their religion, they are not treated equally. For instance, for the untouchables, they arent and will never be treated equally and this is why they pee on the streets. However, in contrast to the upper class, they arent clean as well so it has to do with culture and what they inherit. Furthermore, it has been going on and still going on so history will keep repeating itself. Education can be a factor as well because of Indians were fairly educated, they would not behave this way and would not create inequity in their society. I think its a combination of all factors and they are somehow interconnected.

Many Indians are Buddhists because the Muslims went to Pakistan. But now it is a thing of history because of how long people have been dividing the classes

India has a very diverse culture that is formed by a combination of 3 cultural determinants. Religion, climate, and history play a part in the Indian Caste culture. Hinduism is India, and India is Hinduism. The reason why India has a unique culture is because most of its population consists of Hindus. Secondly, the climate and topography have a role in cultute, as India is more of a farming, rural country; it's not a high-end city like New York. I would say that India has a low PDI, since they lack equality. The poor are not treated equally, and even the women struggle in the Indian society.

Eighty four percent of the population are hindu, thirteen percent of the population are muslims, which make the amount of Christians three percent. Politics is part of the Indian Caste Culture based on the traditions known as The Great Tradition and The Little Tradition. The Great Tradition is known for the higher forms of Hindusim and The Little Tradition is known for the lowest form of the culture. The climate known in India is tropical monsoon, this means the reversal of the winds during the year. Religion divides the country by three categories and are different. Overall the culture is divided between the rich people and the poor people.

I think the caste culture in India is a cocktail of many cultural dimensions including, Power Distance Index and religious aspects. The reason behind that is that the "untouchables" were tasked with cleaning crap and that in India is seen as a huge cultural gap. In hinduism there is cultural gap for example, Brahmin(considered to be high on the social scale, priests) all the way to
Sudras(lowest on the scale, peasants and servants).

The technique for separation and isolation between the Indian individuals is utilized seriously. The untouchables are normally picked in light of the fact that they have acquired a particular occupation that is identified with matter, which supports the possibility of separating individuals. Notwithstanding the social structure, there is a psychological barrier that is made by the general public that infers the possibility of isolation between the Indian individuals. It can be social structure because the groups are not treated fairly. Religion divided them, this is why there is inequality.

India's caste system exists until now and affects modern Indians in many ways. I believe that religion plays a big part of the caste culture because Hinduism classes people in 4 different classes which dates back centuries ago. It separates priests from warriors, nobles from business owners, and servants which are considered as the lower class. The second factor that plays a part in the Indian cast culture is power distance index. The "untouchables" are considered as lesser people in Indian society and are not given equal powers as other Indians.

Almost all the cultural determinants play a huge part in caste culture in India. For example the high PDI for example plays the biggest part as it places exactly 6 levels of society in which everyone must be sorted into there is no such things as a classless person. The only type of member of the indian society that might be considered classless would be an untouchable and even that person is placed in their place in the hierarchy and they can't get out of it. since the indian society is a very collectivist society too that also means that they are mostly grouped under one ideology and almost the entire society agrees that untouchables are well- untouchables. the higher classes remain where they are on the scale and so do the lower classes- including the so called classless untouchables. the Power distance

One of the big reasons on why India's culture is how it is, is because of the social hierarchy that hasn't been changed or evolved in the past 2000 years in India. Religion and their beliefs is a big factor when it comes to how they treat one another, for example the untouchables are basically cursed for the rest of their lives because the pyramid doesn't even recognize them as part of society, the people of India see them as a lesser form of their people. The caste hierarchy consists of priests, below them are kings & warriors, then businessmen, below them are servants, the untouchables are so neglected that they are not even in the pyramid, and because of their history and religious beliefs is the main reason for why they are placed so low on the pyramid.
