In my project I would like to raise students' awareness concerning climate change, what are the effects that we already feel more or less, what is waiting for us in the future, if we don't do something to slow it dowdn even if we cannot stop it. And talk about sustainability, what they can do, propose some concrete activities, and provide them resources to collect further information about climate change and sustainability.
Being a teacher of English language, I would urge my students to use English language as frequently as possible.

The project is called: Traditional and Recycled Games.

I work as a PE teacher.

We carry out physical activities with recycled objects.

We create all the necessary material, reusing it (kites, stilts, plates, etc ...)

We have to make the material with which to play.
I´m thinking in Secundary students ( Maybe 3º-4º ESO).
There are several traditional games in the sport track. The students are en serveral grups, and they play during 10´( for example) in each game. Then, they move to the next game.
I´m thinking about several ideas,; it could be in relation with different deparment. For example:
- Music department: songs which students could sing during the play
- History department: what the origin is
- Biology department: what the impact is
- English department: use English language ( rules, etc..)
- Plastic department: construction and design of everethings ( bowls,petanque....)
- And many other more department........

Our project is called Caring for our local community , caring for our world. My learners are still quite young so we will look at improving our locally area by organising litter clean ups and resuming and recycling materials in school. We will compare our efforts with those globally. We will aim to address the issues of litter and reduction and recycling though a variety of curricular areas. My school is located in the centre of Portugal , Alcobaça, and it is a very big building with lots of green spaces. Same of those spaces are kept clean but there are others that need perservation. My project is to transform those places and try to build a greenhouse where the students would learn how to grow some crops. However, the focus would be to grow aromatic herbs, which could reduce the salt they use in food.
There is an agreement between the school and the Town Hall and the students are quite avid.
Even though I'm an English teacher, I do have a passion for aromatic herbs as they can help us have a healthier diet and get rid of some plagues in our crops. I have the help of teachers of Biology, History, Chemistry. The community is really interested in participating.

I am thinking of naming my project 'Our Green Garden'. At my current school, we have one particular area of outdoor space which could be well utilised for teaching about climate issues and growing some crops sustainably etc, but it is currently quite neglected. I want my project to change that and become a place of learning, change and development. The 'campfire' type circle could be used as a place of learning and the greenhouse to grow things using recyclable materials etc. As a group, we could publish our results monthly in the school newsletter/sharing with the local community to encourage them to take part!

Using eTwinning would be an effective way to engage pupils in taking action. Using other schools for ideas and creating their own plan gives children control of the project. Having a school/class garden with a compost heap is a good tool to begin a project. Other subjects can be integrated, eg English and Drama. ICT can be utilized for children to track the progress of the patch and to promote it in other schools. Children could also research the effectiveness of compost heaps. The compost heap could be used by the whole school, allowing the class to create surveys and provide information to younger classes.

Ecological education is one of the objectives found in all educational disciplines. Ecological education does not have to be a discreet discipline, but neither can it be identical to scientific studies that address a single field of knowledge. Since students are not allowed to vote yet I would like to show them that there are still many choices that they make in everyday life and that many of these make a difference and can influence the political and economical agenda.
First the students should reflect about their daily life and at which points they choose between different alternatives.
The next step would be to find out which of these choices have an impact on sustainability.
The third step would be to find out which of the decisions, that really affect sustainability, would be easy to do and for which of those choices we would have to make quite an effort because they are more expensive, are less comfortable or result in more work for us.
Fields that we could reflect about could include e.g. getting to school, travelling, shopping for food, shopping for clothes, energy consumption, avoiding or recycling waste, repairing instead of throwing away and so on.

ECO-TEAMS- AGAINST THE WASTE OF ENERGY IN OUR SCHOOL
Objectives:
- use English to write and debate about environmental issues;
- reflect on the use/misuse of energy in our school
- design posters to raise awareness among the educational community

activities:
1) energy audit in our school: students, in pairs or groups of 3, will go round the school and pay attention in which places or in which situations energy is wasted during the school day. The propose solutions and write a report about it
2) poster design: make a list with all the ideas and propose slogans to make people conscious of energy saving. Students are divided into groups and each one draws and designs an illustrative poster with the slogan.
3) Eco-teams: these groups go round the school and put up the posters in representative places (classrooms, hallways, bar, computer rooms...). Take pictures while doing it and collect them for dissemination.

Think about your shopping habits. When was the last time you bought a new pair of jeans or shoes? Record everything you bought last month. Take photos of all the items you bought using your smartphone.

Choose one clothing item and look at the clothing label and find the place of origin for the item you bought. Consider the number of people around the world that helped create the item you purchased, from the farm worker to the trucker to the store attendant.
Conduct research. Read your clothing/ shoes labels. Where did the item originate? Use credible sources on the Internet, read reports, reach out to companies. My project will be Eco mid-morning snacks at school. I am thinking about the idea that students have the opportunity to change their perception about having healthy lunch (fruits, vegetables, home-made sandwiches...). Our project is called green.if.i. A group of six European schools would like to cooperate on different topics related to climate change - linked to the 2030 Sustainable Development goals and to the European Green Deal . "Is the Black Sea Dead?"
Much of the pollution of the Black Sea is due to dumped waste. The topic is relevant and excites my students.
1. We will discuss the idea of protecting our sea and possible activities.
2. Students will promote their idea by creating flyers and brochures to reach more people - in and out of school.
3. Establishment of an "Action Club" in which children play an active role. The club will organize days for cleaning, and the goal will be to cover students not only from the city but also from the region.
A calendar will be made in which, in exchange, activists and their followers will gather in different coastal areas to clean them up.

I would propose a bilateral learning exchange and cooperation, under the umbrella of an Erasmus+ KA229 project, between two European secondary schools. The project core would consist on the foundation of an Environmental Awareness Leagues, in both schools, with different tasks and challenges to achieve during the length of the project.

According to this, online and onsite collaborative tasks would be combined. The former could be carried out through the eTwinning platform “TwinSpace” and the later by different short-term international exchanges between both schools.

The project will be addressing wastage of energy in the school which is believed to increase the students awareness about energy consumption and how that affect the global climatic condition.
We'll be working with a local software development firm to build eco-friendly sensors that will be installed in various classrooms. The project will also involve setting up a monitoring team from the student body that will ensure the successful implementation of the project. We will be creating Eco-buddies which is a group of students that will sign the pact of ensuring that energy wastage is kept at the barest minimum in the school environment. I believe this will raise a culture of Environmental Consciousness in the school and this can be transferred to their various homes and the societies at large.

I can think of several ideas: the first is the active participation in the recycling of daily waste at school, inviting students to leave the school correctly (currently the cleaning team does it). The second idea is to actively participate in the production of vegetables in our school garden (students are not doing it either). The third idea is to create some research projects: creation of closed plant ecosystems and production of electrical energy to charge mobile phones through the solar panel of our laboratory. My project will be called "The School Green Masterchef".
It will it involve my pre-school and primary school students and it will be divided into the following phases:
1st - the different classes will grow different vegetables and aromatic plants creating a biological school garden (this will be a cross-curricular project involving different teachers and subjects);
2nd - once a week each class will observe the growth of the vegetables and plants and do many activities on it;
3rd- some local farmers will be invited to visit the school garden and teach some tips and also their knowledge on the subject;

4th- During the process, the vegetables and the herbs will be sold to parents and the local community and the money raised will be to buy materials for the classes and also to a study trip.
5th- The final outcome will the creation of a cookbook with the food planted in the school garden and other healthy items, as well as a menu for the school canteen.

The theme from our group of schools is "Water: source of life". As such, I have been involving our students in activities where they can develop sustainable and environmentally friendly behaviours, which can one day contribute to protect our planet and minimise the human activities impact on it.

I plan on specifically cover the sustainable usage of water with our students, as this is also part of the teaching curriculum. This will drive students to familiarise themselves with the different type of activities using this natural resource, as well as how it's being used. Is water being used correctly and sustainably? Is it an unlimited resource?

As these proposed activities progress, students will have visibility on the amounts of water used by each activity (poor and good use). The idea is that we can use the results to identify and compare ways for better managing water through behavioural change.

Santo André´s Lagoon Project

Our Scholl is near a very important lagoon. It´s a protected area with a huge biodiversity. It has more than 200 animal species and some rare plants.

However, in the late years this protected area has been seriously affected by global warming and other dangers. The warmer temperatures contributed to the proliferation of invasive exotic plant species and the development of algae that have contributed to the reduction of oxygen in the water, which has harmed some more delicate fish species and, consequently, harmed the environmental balance. The reduction of the streams that feed the lagoon has also contributed to its accelerated degradation.

Our project aims to alert the school community and the local community to this problem.

In this sense, we will carry out experiments that show empirically what is going on and its causes. We will publish these experiences on our blog where we will show the videos made and share our conclusions.

We will also carry out campaigns with the population to clean the protected area and to remove the invasive plants, periodically.

The other actions will use multimedia resources, created by us using the chroma key system, which will alert the community to the destruction of this important habitat.

My idea would be to develop a multidisciplinary project to evaluate the environmental quality of the ecosystems using bioindicators like lichens, plants and animals.

Previous study of the environment. The outline would be first focus on a small piece of ground, such as the schoolyard, which I consider is big enough to kick off the project by analysing the quality in terms of biodiversity. Then the patch could be bigger and bigger (school environment, neighboorhood, town, etc.).

Determine the study goals. Once analyzed the enviroment, I would propose to divide differents patches which would be used and studied in different ways in order to compare the results, for example: one patch would be leave intact, another one would be treated with herbicides and the third one would be mown.

Cork oak forests play a predominant role in the environment, in the society and in the economy of Mediterranean countries. Harvesting cork bark assists in the absorption of CO2 and manufactured cork products also continue to ensure this function. In Portugal, the cork oak is the national tree and it is also in my school’s logo because my school has an outdoor area with cork oak trees. They are a feature of the school and students are familiar with them. To raise awareness about the importance of cork oak ecosystems in fighting climate change, students should work on several mini-projects all related to cork. They could make a stop-motion animated short film in English where the characters are all made of wine corks. The film should be about what can be done to prevent climate change. This is a cross-curricular project as many subject areas can be part of it: English; Art; ICT; Natural Sciences; etc. As a follow-up for this project, students can also create objects using wine corks that can be displayed; birds ’houses can be built using wine corks and hung in the school trees; etc

I´ve been involved in a two years´time eTwinning project about Sustainable Development Goals: Be the Change, Take the Challenge. Students have worked about these 17 goals and created a good amount of materials for an awareness campaign on sustainability and social justice. For a new project, I´d suggest focussing on just one goal, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

Bearing that in mind students should analyse and explore the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. We will work SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production, because every student is a consumer. As an example, they will analyse the menu of the canteen of the first week of school. They will look backwards: what are the ingredients needed for these meals?, where do they come from?, what the ecological footprint of the product?, What are the methods of production?, is there any type of exploration involved/is it fair trade?,… In doing this, probably it will be possible to make connections with all the other SDGs. 1st step: the students will be introduced to the subject through Ecological Footprint Calculators

2nd step: they will study scientific evidence on the impact of Climate Change on ecosystems, on health and lives of individuals and on the prosperity of nations etc

3rd step: they will study the Paris Climate Agreement and the European legislation on C.C.

4th step: students will be assigned roles of all relevant stakeholders such as political parties, social groups, ecologists, NGOs, governments of developed countries & of rapidly developing ones, representatives of industry and commerce, companies of agriculture, conventional energy suppliers etc.

The final objective is to engage them actively in the Climate Change debate and to come up with viable solutions such as reduction of emissions, switch to renewable sources of energy, reduction of deforestation, imposing taxes, afforestation etc.

These solutions will be presented in a conference simulation.

My project idea is focussed on the climate literacy of the students, their motivation to share their knowledge of the climate crisis and for them to develop their own creative solutions to help tackle a series of issues related to the environment. By giving the students the freedom to investigate an aspect of the issue that they find particularly interesting or worrying, they will feel empowered and optimistic about the things they can do in their daily lives to help combat the crisis. The project is designed for students aged 14-15 in a rural secondary school.
As an introduction to the project, students will watch the first episode of 'Our Planet' on Netflix and complete the accompanying activities proposed by WWF https://www.wwf.org.uk/sites/default/files/2019-08/WWF_Our_Planet_Teacher_Pack.pdf.
They will calculate their own carbon footprint using that feature on the same website: https://footprint.wwf.org.uk/?_ga=2.160091197.186355685.1590322156-272460994.1590062453#/ Using the calculator and the different aspects that it measures, students will discuss the daily activities that contribute most to their carbon footprint and debate ways in which they might reduce it.
Of these actions, the students will choose one to implement during a week, to then report back to their classmates and other classes. Potential actions might be walking or cycling instead of travelling by car, not eating meat, reducing plastic usage (plastic bags from the supermarket, for example), being proactive in switching off electronic devices in the home.
As all of the materials are in English and the discussions and debates will take place in the target language, the objectives of the subject are addressed, as well as those relating to educating in sustainability.

The project I am designing is for the 2nd grade of secondary school. In our system these are pupils of around 14 years of age.
The ideas that I got from this course are about the ecological footprint, earth overshoot day and letting the students think about practical ideas they can change in theyr lives. The project is for the lower levels in our school that's why adressing the climate crisis has to be as concrete as possible. The ecological footprint and earth overshoot day really helps me do that. As where students of higher levels maybe would ask 'how the calculations are made with the ecological footprint', that way it would just lose power. I think that the ecological is particularly suiting for the lower levels, because it is about everyday life. After the investigation of their own footprint, the students learn about earth overshoot day which makes it very clear what all these footprints do to the earth. In the third part the pupils design a future for themselves in which they come up with ideas suitable for them. That way you get a lot of different ideas and as a teacher you also get an insight of what the kids are capable of doing.

My project is mainly intended to make students aware of the consequences of global warming by learning facts conected to this problem, and also making the students think about how each of us can help improve this situation.
This is not the only goal of the project. I also want to extend the climate crisis awareness to the people of the village in which our school is located and try to get the local authorities involved, in order to improve the sustainability of daily life in the village, like considering the possibility to install solar panels at the school building, organizing a more effective way of picking up litter to be recycled and so on.
People in the village will have the opportunity to see how students have worked in the project as there will be an "open house" day at the school (to see crafts, pictures, designed banners and other material) on an exhibition held at the Hall of the school.

We can use the photos and reports in local newspapers about the garbage in the beaches, after human activities such as swimming (there are many such pictures unfortunately).
Talking about this in the classroom, we introduce the children to the topic of the Earth Overshoot Day. We ask them to visit the site and find our country's Overshoot Day.
After that, we discuss in the classroom about ways to change the Overshoot Day. At the end of the discussion, we can form groups of students aiming at the solutions they have proposed (in example, there could be a group about waste reduction and recycling, a group about organic farming and gardens, another group about renewable energy and and so on).
Each group has to find more information about the issue- solution they have proposed and find ways promoting their solution in the class, the school and the local community (texts, a small newspaper, videoclips, posters etc).
We set a deadline for the group work and in the end, each group has to present in the way they choose how we can change the Earth Overshoot Day, what we can do in our class, our school, our community.

My project idea is focused on selective waste collection and on motivating people to share knowledge about the climate crisis and sustainable development in order to develop technical solutions under the filter of good environmental management.

A final objective of selective waste collection will be set by the students that will make them participants of a common project in their daily life.

The students will selectively collect those wastes in different containers throughout a term, and after quantifying the volume collected, the class will visit the municipal waste management plant for its subsequent processing.

The visit will show them the complete process of waste management in which they have actively participated in the reduction of plastics, paper, glass and electronic elements.

The project aims at achieving ideas to improve and take care of our planet. Teachers and students will work through different activities to show how daily actions can help to make people aware of our planet conservation. Our students will be real small superheroes fighting together to save our environment. All the above things considered, working together and getting to know students from different countries working for the same cause will be a good way to educate for sustainable development. This way the students will learn that there is a strong connection between the three pillars of Education for sustainable development because if the environment is clean and protected the society will be healthier, happier and more content and these also involve good tourism development which finally will lead to economical growth.

The project would stress on reducing the energy consumption of school building aiming to adopt a whole school aproach.
Students would form an energy team. They would at first get acquainted with climate change issues such as greenhouse effect and gases, energy sources and their impacts, the impacts of climate change. Hands-on games could be helpful on this stage in combination with web inquiry and resources such as ecological footprint calculator.
In the next step students would get data for or record the energy consumption of the school building. They would also explore the energy use or misuse of appliances and facilities and the role of students, teaching staff or other staff.
In the third step the students would come up with ideas to reduce energy consumption in the school building. They would present their ideas in the school board and would make a campaign towards the school community to adopt energy saving attitudes.
In the final step the students along with the school board would ask the local authorities to repair or improve energy consuming infrastructure in the school building. They would also present the project in the local community in order to spread the word for energy saving.

I would choose a mixture of topic 3 «Climate and Life» and topic 7 «Climate change has consequences for the Earth system and human lives» to raise awareness about how life in different parts of the planet and climate changes are intertwined and how species and ecosystems adapt, migrate or become extinct because of climate changes.

My project will be a trip to San Román de Cameros, a small village in La Rioja where we can easily find the difference between extensive and intensive animal husbandry, ecotourism and the importance of maintaining biodiversity in the area.
With a two-day trip with the students from the high school, we can learn in first-hand from San Román inhabitants about the three pillars of education for sustainable development such as environment, rural society, and regional economy.

In this program we will try with 10 steps to reduce the energy footprint of the school by raising students' awareness of climate change. We will rely on real data that will include one-year bills for electricity and the school building's energy recovery.
The goal will be through measurements and recordings to highlight points where the building has energy losses in heating, lighting, appliances and to make students think about improving the situation on two levels. In the short term in reducing consumption, in the long in energy upgrade initiatives of the building.

The project is about awareness and taking action!

First step is to raise awareness about climate change.

The students are going to learn in different groups about the impact of the climate change in their province. Part of this step is to talk with experts and policymakers.

The class is divided into 5 groups. Each group has his own subject:

1. If our area is affected by the rising of the sea level / rainfall and river flooding

2. The future of the farmers in our region.

How are the farmers doing in our area? Dealing with the drought during the summertime, less nitrogen in the future, more rain in the winter.

3. How does the local government encourage more ecofriendly ways of transport and energy sources? What is our ecofriendly infrastructure? Are their problems par example Windmills in the landscape? Is their space to improve?

4. Garbage waste around the school and in the school? How can we reduce it? What are the hotspots in our area?

They present their outcomes to the rest of the class and hopefully someone from Greenpeace, WWF, the local principal.

Then they receive a challenge to reduce their own footprint. The best three student that reduce the most of their footprint receive a night in a cabin in our national park with a tour from a ranger around sunset.

So they have to keep track of their water use, electricity, food, clothing, transport etc.

Of course this is difficult to keep track of. But there are some things we can see:

- Strava account (the most km on bike our foot)

- Ecofriendly actions that are taking (cleaning up actions etc.)

- Recipes with local products in the right season

- Etc.

My project will have two aspects, one linked to student consumption. In this regard, I will try as a chemistry teacher to show students the amount of water, chemicals and energy that is involved in the production of the clothes that students wear. Water, waste and our energy sources. Each of them during an academic year.

With regard to water, we have made the educational community of the institute aware of the need not to waste it and, among many other things, we have changed the taps in the bathrooms for ones with automatic shut-off. We have also changed the habits of using single-use plastic water bottles for continuous-use flasks.

With regard to waste, we have also carried out various actions: recycling of pens, paper, mobile phones, used oils to make soap, and some more.

And now we are working on the issue of energy and, our most ambitious project, which is to make our high schoolself-sufficient with photovoltaic solar energy.

We have carried out an eco-audit of our energy consumption and analyzed the energy sources that we currently use (non-renewable electricity for lighting, diesel for heating) to develop a model and a proposal for transition towards self-sufficiency with solar energy, both for lighting and heating.

Our city is located close to the Carpathian Mountains. Students from grades 8 to 12 will hike to a nearby forested peak, select representative trees, collect location data, and then research the ecological benefits of these trees. I teach in an Agrarian Institute entitled to Mario Rigoni Stern, an Italian novelist, whose stories were about nature, animals and other rural concerns. My project is about creative writing to raise awareness. I have done this before with students and it is very successful. I will come back to this padlet with a resource link to the materials you can use for my activity. Basically, they will have to put themselves in the shoes of whatever they draw (a forest where all the trees have been cut down, an animal heading to the slaughter house, an animal who has lost its home, the ocean/sea that can't breathe because of pollution).
