While there are many antibiotics that can treat PDI, these are the two major ones. The first one if ampicillin-subactam and the second one to go with that is doxycycline. These two together are the most effective against C.trachomatis, N. gonorrhoeae. Antibiotics such as clindamycin and ceftriaxone are two types of medicine used to treat PDI as well.

Pelvic inflammatory is a disease within the reproductive organ's of a woman. It is caused by some STDs such as chlamydia and gonorrhea that spread from the vagina to the uterus. Symptoms of PDI can include fever, unusual discharge, and pain and/or bleeding when you have sex. This type of disease can be treated with antibiotics. However, one in 10 women become infertile when they have PDI. The scarring can prevent the egg from becoming fertilized which can then lead to an ectopic pregnancy. Women with PDI should practice safe sex and get the proper treatment if diagnosed.
