One major goal for Amir is to repent all his terrible sins and achieve redemption through trying to make up his mistakes.

Amir is driven by the need to be forgiven of all the bad things he has done to people in his life so far.

“I always felt like Baba hated me a little. And why not? After all, I had killed his beloved wife, his beautiful princess, hadn’t I? The least I could have done was to have had the decency to have turned out a little more like him. But I hadn’t turned out like him. Not at all” (19).

This quote shows he felt remorse for a mistake he had make, one for “killing his beloved wife” and the other for not turning out the way Baba had internally wished.

Our group as a whole related to Amir in many ways, such as we’ve all betrayed a friend in some way or another because it would’ve produced a better outcome for ourselves, more specifically with a different motive/reason.

One lesson of life we can learn from the novel is how previous mistakes can come back to haunt you and we need to try our best to make decisions that are best for everyone not just ourselves.

The book as a whole was very intriguing and pulled the reader in, it had many parts that were very sad but the way it came back from the sadness was impressive, We both mostly enjoyed it. We would recommend it because it does not really have any dull moments where you don’t want to read anymore, it it very interesting all throughout.
