         <description><![CDATA[<div>I will echo Michelle: it is far easier simply to type in a new box, for clarity. However, I am glad to see that you mastered the "embed" of documents and photos.<br><br>You did a great job highlighting the enormity of Pershing's task - herculean. There may not have been a single person in American history that could have done this: not Washington, not Grant or Lee, not even George C. Marshall, who was able to manage WWII only because he got to see how Pershing accomplished it. <br><br>He did make mistakes, however. Too much reliance on the rifle and bayonet, for example. Too much reliance on "offense" when the machine gun negated the frontal assault. He learned, however, from the early mistakes.</div>]]></description>
