To detain someone it means keep someone in häkte, locked in, until their trial, if there is enough evidence for the prosecutor to ask for a detention order. This is because the suspect is dangerous for the society and could possible ruin evidence, commit another crime or if the suspect(s) flee. Being detained is the third and last stage of being locked in even though you are not yet guilty. In order to be detained, there must be enough evidence that you have committed in a situation. The prosecutor is responsible for the detained person.During this time, the prosecutor will lead to a preliminary investigation. This investigation is to find more evidence and background information in order to prove the suspect guilty. For example Charlotte killed 3 people and she was taken to a inquiry. There she demonstrates her aggressive behaviour. The police decide to keep Charlotte locked because she might be dangerous for the society.

To detain:
After being arrested for 3 days the prosecutor has to decide whether or not the person should be detained in custody.
He or she is detained so that they don't tamper with evidence or commit another crime. It's also to make sure the suspect doesn't flee the country. Throughout this time when the person is kept in custody the prosecutor continues leading the preliminary investigation.

To detain means to keep locked in (Häkta). Some times its for them to wait for a trial or until enough evidence is found.
The Prosecutor has around 3 days to get enough evidence to keep them detained. During 14 days, the prosecutor leads the preliminary investigation (gets information about the suspect) and decides if he or she should take legal proceedings (if there should be a trial). If necessary, the prosecutor keeps the suspect detained until the trial if he or she thinks that the suspect might ruin evidence, commit another crime or escape. If the suspect is to be detained, the prosecutor needs to get enough evidence and show it to the court (to issue a detention order). If the paper is signed, the suspect will be detained in custody. For example, if the prosecutor thinks that Sarah is guilty, he or she might keep her detained until the trial in case she might ruin evidence.

To detain, is when the prosecutor thinks that if it is still possible for the criminal to flee or to destroy evidence etc, after 3 days of being arrested, and if it is still possible then the prosecutor can file a detention order for the criminal.

After being caught, the prosecutor has 3 days to find enough evidence to make the caught person be detained. If the caught person is to be detained, then the court will have a court proceeding within 4 days of the detaining. Detained means being locked up before court. Example: Sarah was caught because someone saw her stealing an old woman's bag. After 3 days, the police had enough evidence to keep her detained. Withing 4 days of being detained, Sarah proceeded to court.
