This poem is "A poison Tree", written by William Blake.
This is one of the most important Blake's poems, in which the author expresses all his melancholy and frustation. For this reason the poem is quoted on the American tv series "The Originals".   
Here the main character, Klaus, shows his own thoughts and feelings to the audience.

Here there are some interesting events of William Blake's life.

These events can be summarized in 5 points:

1)  William Blake was the third son of James Blake, who owned a hosiery shop, and Catherine Wright Blake. William attended school only till the age of ten after which he was educated at home by his mother. He wanted to be an artist from an early age and when he was 10 his parents, realizing his talent, enrolled him in Henry Pars’s Drawing School in London.

2) At age 21, he became a professional engraver.  Blake’s early engravings were copies of designs of other artists but later he established his reputation and received commissions to engrave his own designs.

3)  His twenty-two engraved Illustrations for the Book of Job are considered to be his greatest masterpieces in the medium of engraving.

4) In 1826, Blake received a commission to illustrate for Dante’s Divine Comedy. The assignment was cut short due to Blake’s death but it is still considered one of his best works in the field.

5) During his life Blake was considered insane and was mostly unknown except to a few friends and faithful patrons. Interest in his work grew in the mid-19th century and by the 20th century he was held in high esteem for the profound, philosophical, creative and mystical elements in his works. Today William Blake is regarded as one of the finest artists and poets in Britain’s history. He lived in the last years of the 18th century. He was the first poet to use imagination. He was an engraver and a painter before he became a poet. Blake supported the French Revolution and remained a radical throughout of life. He had a strong sense of religion. The most important literary influence in his life was the Bible. He claimed he had visions.
He was an individual poet, both in terms of his personal vision and technique. He supported abolition of slavery and egalitarian principles. He was influenced by the negative consequences of the Industrial Revolution. He was very interested in the conditions of the children.
He used symbols as a part of a deliberate attempt to avoid any kind of realism.
He studied Raphael and Michelangelo and he learnt the technique of representing exaggerated muscular bodies. Blake broke with the conventions of that time and created a new kind of art which emphasised the power of imagination. 
Blake was also very active in publishing prophetic books in which he created a complex personal mythology and invented his own symbolic characters to reflect his social interest and denounce authority. 
Some of his paintings are in the British Museum nowadays.
