I learned that we should be an hour of continued physical activity every day. I learned that foods like berries, tomatoes, nuts, legumes are some of the healthiest superfoods that prevent heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. I learned that some fats like avocado are healthy and not all fats are bad for the body. Not getting enough sleep and going on strict calorie diets can cause someone to gain weight. Fooducate and My Fitness Pal are ways that I can keep track of the food I eat and the physical activity that I get.

What are some ways you can increase physical activity throughout your day to reach this amount?

The minutes of physical exercise per day should be between 75 and 150 minutes per week. Basically people should get 30 minutes of rigorous physical exercise per day. There are many ways to increase physical activity throughout the day, the choices can be walking around the neighborhood after school, riding your bike instead of taking the car, and taking the stairs instead of taking the elevator.

4) Suppose your friend decides to go on a strict calorie restrictive diet for several weeks. She asks you for your honest opinion about her decision. What would you warn her about? What advice would you give her?

What I would my friend about is once you are finished the diet depending on the time given, the body could gain more weight due to it going into starvation mode.

1) Eating less of what three things and more of what three things help reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease or stroke? A sedentary lifestyle can contribute to what diseases?

The three things to reduce cardiovascular disease or stroke is to eat less saturated fat, less trans fat, and less sodium intake. A sedentary lifestyle can lead to diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis to name a few.

2) Defend the position that not all fats are the same and support your facts with evidence.

Simply put, unsaturated fats are good while having trans fats and saturated fats are bad.

3) Imagine you move to a community where
access to fresh fruits and vegetables is difficult. The area itself is not safe, which makes partaking in physical activities outside more difficult. You notice that there are fast food places on every corner with few healthy options. What changes would you have to make to your current lifestyle in order to live a healthy lifestyle in this environment? What are some challenges you would face? Who can you contact and what can communities do in order to invoke change?

The changes I would like to make to help the community is to create a program for children who are not getting any exercise such as the YMCA, but there are fun activities such as horse back riding and educate them about healthy eating. The challenges I would face would be not playing outside or going for walks. Contacting officials would help gain their interest or bring awareness to the situation.
