Since I was little I have loved strawberries maybe unconsciously I knew it was the “Heart Fruit” or maybe I didn’t. Either way, many of my childhood memories revolve around strawberries; I picked them, farmed them, ate them, and treasured them. To me it makes sense that strawberries are the heart fruit, after all, how could they not be when they are as beautiful as they are?

Question 3.

-> People are hesitant about giving because of greed, people are scared that other people are going to have more than them and they get jealous. They think that being generous means you must get something in return instead of it being a gift out of generosity. So instead of just giving they expect something in return like money.

A quote that stands out to you?

A quote that stands out to me is “Thinking of something as a gift changes your relationship to it.” This stands out to me because i feel that you appreciate a gift more than something that you buy urself. Compared to something you buy urself a gift is usually taken better care of and appreciated more. This is due to the fact someone or something thought about you, and went out of their way for you.

Why are people hesitant about giving?

I think people are hesitant about giving because we have normalized that we only give someone something on a special occasion, like a birthday, holiday, big achievement, etc. I also feel that now people only buy something for someone and fear they may not like it or need that item, compared to if you make something homemade people tend to appreciate that item more.

I think watermelon a beautiful example of a gift in my family. My dad will come here after most shopping trips around the summer season with a watermelon or two for us to eat as a family. In the winter the watermelons we like to eat aren't in stock at the store, so we look forward to enjoying them in the summer.

I don't think that people are hesitant to give. They don't even consider it, Nowadays society is so focused on personal gain that no one looks to support, help or give to others. People are afraid of losing at "the race of life." As much as we as a society think that looking out for personal gain will benefit us, that is not always the case. I think that it is important for more people today to consider the ways Indigenous People view others and the world as it can lead to a happier society. This will in turn create better life experiences for every individual.
