Students create their first draft by following a graphic organizer and the RACES strategy.

Using the organizer, we go over it together to identify the missing info, etc...I make suggestions and provide transitional phrases, etc.. to help them amp up their responses.

To assess the writing I use a rubric that check for things like restating the question, answering the question, was evidence provided, and what was the grammar and sentence structure like.

After going over the responses carefully, corrections are made based on the findings.
