Safety practices are in place for all staff and students to adhere to. Students are aware of the procedures and tend to react as such. Teachers remember to grab the grab and go bags each time there is a drill.

Grows: The west end side door must be closed completely when exiting the building. There are cracks under the doors which pose a safety hazard. We all must remember to wear our Centegix badges.

In an emergency, the students know the standard procedures in order to be safe. At times, it can be hectic because they still like to talk but eventually they know what to do.

As a school, we respond quickly and appropriately to emergency drills. However, we tend to wane in terms of discipline after exiting the school during fire drills for example. Sometimes we can make the drill into a social gathering. I am concerned that if the drill were to somehow turn into a real emergency, we wouldn't have the ability to respond as quickly due to our lackadaisical mindsets.

It is very helpful to revisit the practices and procedures from time to time. I appreciate doing this. The students do seem to respond quickly to the drills when we have them. However, the importance of them has to be reemphasized to them when we return to the classroom. I would like for Admin or the Safety team to openly express to the students (maybe during an assembly) the importance of taking each drill seriously. We need to express to them that this is not a playful matter.
