This week we worked on the development of the high knees through specific drills. The student walked over each hurdle driving the knees as high as possible. The student head must stayed focused forward as she stood over each hurdle. This was performed at a slow pace firstly and then increased to a jog when appropriate.

This week we focused our concentration on the movement of the arms. The main drill used here involved the students sitting on the ground, practicing keeping ther arms at 90 degrees trying to lift herself of the ground. this hihlights the power correct arm movements can give us. They completed this in a simultaneous pattern and then alternatively. .

This week we returned to the high knees and we progressed to the ladder. The student firstly, walked through the ladder, getting their knees as high as possible and placing their arms behind their back emphasising the leg aspect only. Then we increased the pace. The student then progressed to two legs in each step and then three high knees in each step.

The week we further developed the arm movement by challenging the students to try sprinting without the use of their arms. This emphasised how important they are and the positive influence they have. For the second half of this lesson both the arm and leg movement were incorporated together and we got a chance to critique our overall efficiency of sprinting.
