The Chaotic City landscape: An exploration of the chaotic environment Urban cities place people in shown through three different works of art. This mini exhibition chose the different moods an emotions you would experience from living in a populated city,

Starting with an Untitled painting by Hananiah Harari in 1935, this shows the chaotic and confusing nature of navigating a the shoreline in bridges of a big city. Everything is very confusing with strange geometric structure, this is shown by the bridge where you can almost see both sides of it as if it is bent over the water. You can also see the port in the background just underneath the bridge next to more and more ships almost appearing out of nowhere. This shows the convoluted jungle environment of City.

Next we have a photo titled New York by Helen Levitt in 1977. I think this is a great mix with the other two works because it shows of snow cone worker taking a few seconds that he has to get a break in the chaotic City around him. You can see many people walking around doing all sorts of different things in such a chaotic close environment, as well as what looks to be a never-ending line of buildings that shows that this is just one corner of the never ending city.

Finally we have The Migration Series, Panel no. 1, by Jacob Lawrence. This shows how desperately people are moving into the big cities such as Chicago New York and St Louis, almost to calm before the storm of the big city. But this calm is still a chaotic motion of people rushing into different stations to get to their destination as quick as possible trying to be the first one. This is the start of the chaos of their life that they will experience until they move away.
