Most of them included props as we knew this would be a good way to engage the learners within the exercises and keep them interested throughout the lesson. We knew that the movements involved within this class would need to be simple, and nothing too strenuous that would tire them out quickly.
We decided that everybody within the class would be responsible for one dance, so we each chose our own piece that we would teach within the lesson. I decided to go for Grease lightning as it's a song where movements can be repeated and most people know it due to it being so popular within film. They all seemed really happy to just be involved and participate within the class and they kept their enthusiasm up all the way through. I think we did the right amount of exercises as it was apparent they were beginning to get tired, but they still put a lot of effort into all the pieces.
The coloured spots on the floor really helped with them positioning themselves around the room and it allowed them ownership and control over something, as we allowed them to stand next to whoever they wanted, this allowed them to feel more comfortable. It made it a lot easier for them to return back tot heir places, so it didn't waste any time when walking round in the circles.
I think the props also worked well as they got really excited about them and gave them something else to do. The ones that worked especially well were the tambourines and the pompoms as they were an auditory source as well as visual. Constant talking is needed as well as actually showing them so they have two ways of learning the movements so they can use whichever one they like to use as a way of replicating. I really enjoyed teaching my piece and I thought the movements were suitable and easy-enough for the class. If we did it again, I would love to teach some more and do a few pieces rather than just one. However, I took the key themes from the book and applied them to real life situations that have happened throughout history. The key themes to this book are racial discrimination and segregation, so this is what I wanted to continue with as I am passionate about making a change and spreading awareness of the subject. 
To do so, I picked out key events in history that have changed the way we look at things forever. These are things such as: The Nelson Mandela speech; Rosa Parks bus ride and the shooting of the teenager: Trayvon Martin.
