This era does not deserve to be called the Era of Good Feeling. The Panic of 1819 caused many people to lose their land, and many state banks were forced to close, harming the nation's economy. This event caused many people, especially in the West, to lose faith in the federal government. Also, sectionalism was becoming more prevalent because of slavery. People became less concerned for the success of the nation, and more concerned for the well-being of their section, which led to increased tensions among the states.
