Levittown had these same characteristics, the houses being all of a similar style, color, and size. Making the houses uniform fit in with the 1950's homogenous style. Today, it is of a very similar taste. People living in Stevenson Ranch, a neighborhood of Santa Clarita, live in this homogenous layout of homes. All claimed as "cookie cutter," the homes share similar styles, neutral colors, and various sizes; but all staying within a similar range. Shopping would be a local store that a family could sustain off of, without needing to leave the town. The same is true for Santa Clarita; there are malls, grocery stores, furniture stores, etc. located in a nearby location. Although one might leave Santa Clarita to go shopping for other reasons, there are plenty of stores to supply and maintain a happy household; located conveniently. In Levittown, a grocery store is in each neighborhood and the larger stores are in a central location in the town. This holds true to Levittown; families predominantly lived in suburbia. Since the houses and towns were designed for families, the sight of a bachelor was strange and unusual. Santa Clarita is very similar, although not everyone has a family, but the majority of the residents do have families. The schools in Levittown are extremely small, only having 4 elementary, 2 middle schools and 2 high schools. This is a very small amount to SCV's 10 elementary, 6 middle schools, and 10 high schools. Population also has a large role in the schools, Santa Clarita has a greater residency than the small Levittown. Although the cost in Levittown was relatively cheap, a majority of families residing in Levittown were middle class earners. Santa Clarita is similar, although there are some poorer areas, generally most families are middle class. the average house cost in SCV is $542,300, only a middle class family would be able to afford the pricing. Being able to sustain a nice home, away from the city, is what most Santa Clarita and Levittown residents wanted.
