It was related to me in a love relationship, and the feeling I have with the song that feeling did I also have at the end of that relationship. Especially the line where he sings "I don't care what you say anymore this is my life. Go ahead with your own life leave me alone." was something I sang along very loudly. As you probably already expected, the relationship didn't end well.
